LOGISTICS & OPERATIONS MANAGER
NAMIBIA
Our client is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Logistics & Operations Manager to manage and lead its logistics operations in Namibia. The successful candidate will oversee warehousing, distribution, fleet operations, inventory management, order dispatching, customer service, health and safety, facility maintenance and staff management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Logistics and Service Centre Administration
- Create and capture trip sheets in accordance with the applicable route guides.
- Monitor repair bookings, assessments and quotations.
- Oversee customer complaints and ensure that queries are addressed timeously.
- Ensure compliance with internal and external service-level agreements.
- Oversee spare-parts forecasting and stockholding.
- Compile operational and management reports.
Order Booking and Dispatch
- Ensure that orders are screened upon receipt.
- Report rejected deliveries and orders to the relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure that credit-approved returned orders are sent to the distribution centre with the required documentation.
- Ensure that all proof-of-delivery documents are returned by drivers.
- Conduct driver and proof-of-delivery debriefings.
Returns, Repairs and Collections
- Create collection trip sheets.
- Review and reject illegitimate returns.
- Report irregular or illegitimate returns to the relevant account managers and line manager.
Warehouse and Inventory Management
- Conduct and investigate daily inventory cycle counts.
- Oversee the picking and packing of stock.
- Maintain appropriate quality-control standards.
- Coordinate the reworking of stock where required.
- Ensure stock rotation in accordance with the FIFO principle.
- Prevent stock losses and maintain a high level of warehouse security.
Accounts and Administration
- Manage petty cash reconciliations.
- Oversee hub payables.
- Maintain accurate filing and operational records.
Facility., Fleet and Safety Management
- Oversee fleet-management activities.
- Ensure daily housekeeping and general facility upkeep.
- Test and monitor security systems.
- Ensure that fire extinguishers and fire reels are regularly serviced.
- Report and coordinate necessary repair and maintenance work.
- Conduct daily toolbox talks.
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety policies and procedures.
- Appoint appropriately qualified firefighters, first aiders and SHE representatives.
- Ensure that drivers and machine operators hold the required qualifications.
Staff Management
- Supervise, coordinate and manage staff within the logistics and operations function.
- Promote operational efficiency, accountability and compliance with company procedures.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- A relevant tertiary qualification.
- At least three years' supervisory experience in warehousing or distribution.
- At least three years' experience in fleet management or distribution.
- At least three years' administrative experience.
- Experience with a Warehouse Management System or SYSPRO will be an advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

- Willingness to work extended hours and occasional weekends.
Additional Requirements
- A valid driver's licence.
- Own reliable vehicle.
