
POSITION TITLE: Food Services Logistics Manager
LOCATION: Food Production Center
HOURS OF WORK/CALENDAR: 8 Hours per day/247-day calendar
STATUS: Classified - Non-Exempt, Full Time
The job of Food Services Logistics Manager was established for the purpose/s of supervising warehousing, packing, and delivery services and activities; overseeing assigned personnel; providing information to others; and scheduling work assignments within established timeframes and standards. This job reports to Operations Supervisor.
PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages warehouse for the purpose of providing required materials and services.
Directs department functions and personnel for the purpose of prioritizing project deadlines and ensuring optimal utilization of personnel.
Oversees the pulling of orders from stock, packing, and loading for the purpose of meeting daily delivery requirements.
Implements assigned activities and/or projects for the purpose of complying with regulatory requirements and established guidelines.
Inspects warehouse equipment for the purpose of maintaining equipment in safe operating condition.
Conducts physical inventories for the purpose of verifying stock and identifying losses.
Maintains warehouse (e.g., inventory of food products, equipment, custodial cleaning, office and first aid supplies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability of materials for distribution and providing a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Prepares a variety of materials (e.g., inventory movement reports, memos, letters, procedures, manuals, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.
Oversees receiving of stock and nonstock items for the purpose of ensuring specifications, quantity and quality of orders are all correct.
Recommends policies, procedures and/or actions for the purpose of providing direction for meeting the district's goals and objectives.
Supervises department functions and personnel (e.g., including hiring/termination recommendations, planning / scheduling / coordinating activities, training, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that the department functions in a safe and efficient manner.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Performs warehouse, packing, and driver job duties when necessary to ensure continual service to the schools
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Job-related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is desired. High School diploma or equivalent.
- Must have current forklift certification within 30 days of hire, and Valid Driver’s License
- Evidence of Insurability
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
SKILLS are required to perform single, technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include using materials handling equipment including operating forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, etc.; operating standard office equipment; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percent, and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include materials handling and storage.
ABILITY is required to schedule a number of activities, meetings, and/or events; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with similar types of data; and utilize job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is moderate to significant. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include communicating with diverse groups: meeting deadlines and schedules; setting priorities; and working as part of a team.
RESPONSIBILITY includes working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; directing other persons within a department, large work unit, and/or across several small work units; and directing the use of budgeted funds within a work unit. Utilization of resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions. There is some opportunity to impact the Organization’s services.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; frequent climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 33% sitting, 34% walking, and 33% standing. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and in some hazardous conditions.
