Logistics Manager - Decatur, IL

Position Summary

ADM is seeking a Logistics Manager to support our Carbohydrate Solutions Sweetener and Texturizing group. This role serves as a key liaison between Plants, Customer Service, Quality, Planning Optimization, Sales, and transportation partners. The successful candidate will help ensure efficient, cost-effective, and reliable movement of products while supporting logistics strategy, carrier relationships, freight analysis, rail fleet optimization, and customer service initiatives.

This position requires strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively across multiple business functions. Flexibility and a customer-focused mindset are essential.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain and strengthen truck carrier relationships across all terminal and plant locations. Site visits as needed.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations for ongoing Supply Chain Policy documents.
  • Conduct freight cost analysis and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Review accessorial charges and develop ideas to reduce or better manage costs.
  • Facilitate, negotiate, and enforce service contracts and throughput rates for transfer terminals.
  • Review and approve payment of throughput charges.
  • Analyze railcar fleet utilization and help determine optimum fleet size across locations.
  • Develop new transportation pricing and logistic solutions in coordination with the Commercial team for yearly RFQs.
  • Monitor railcar movement to key customers and assist Corporate Transportation with improvement ideas.
  • Actively participate in rail negotiations with Corporate Transportation, including maintaining awareness of contract expiration dates.
  • Conduct ongoing review of truck and railcar weight optimization.
  • Use Tableau and other data tools to support analytics and reporting.
  • Assist in facilitating centralized railcar billing systems.
  • Support additional projects and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of IBM inventory and order processing systems preferred, along with the ability to learn web-based and other computer applications.
  • Bachelor’s degree or previous experience in an ADM Operations role preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to make quick, accurate decisions.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to set goals, prioritize work, and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work closely and communicate effectively with all business functions.
  • Ability to maintain strong working relationships with Commercial Managers and Directors.

Additional Information

  • Occasional visits to production facilities will be necessary.
  • Minimal travel may be required.
  • Other duties may be assigned as business needs evolve.

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

The pay range for this position is expected to be between:

$70,400.00 - $132,900.00

Salaried Incentive Plan

The total compensation package for this position will also include annual bonus
