Position Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced and results-driven Logistics Manager to oversee domestic and international shipping, freight operations, and delivery execution within an aerospace manufacturing environment. This role leads a logistics team responsible for on-time and compliant shipment of customer and internal orders, ensuring adherence to customer contractual requirements, export and trade regulations, and transportation standards. The Logistics Manager plays a critical role in protecting delivery commitments and customer satisfaction by providing strong leadership, systems expertise, and operational discipline to manage product flow from release to shipment
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop the Logistics team to meet operational, production, and customer delivery objectives in a regulated aerospace environment.
- Establish logistics KPIs and continuous improvement plans aligned with AS9100, on-time delivery, inventory accuracy, and cost control.
- Manage domestic and international shipping, receiving, and freight activities, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations (e.g., ITAR/EAR, DFARS, FAA/IATA, DOT, IMDG).
- Serve as the site owner for export compliance execution, including screening, documentation, commodity classifications, licenses (when required), and coordination with Trade Compliance.
- Develop and maintain relationships with carriers, freight forwarders, and brokers; negotiate rates, define SLAs, and monitor service and compliance performance.
- Ensure customer-specific contract requirements are met, including packaging, labeling, documentation, source inspection, delivery terms (Incoterms), and record retention.
- Own warehouse operations, layout, and material flow to ensure efficiency, safety, FOD control, ESD compliance, and protection of product integrity.
- Ensure full material traceability from receipt through shipment, including lot/batch control, shelf-life material, serialized items, and configuration status.
- Drive ERP transaction discipline and data integrity (receipts, issues, transfers, adjustments, shipments) to support audit readiness and real-time visibility.
- Create, analyze, and present logistics dashboards and metrics (OTD, backlog, freight cost, inventory accuracy, MRB aging, cycle count performance).
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Planning, Quality, Supplier Quality, and Procurement to support production schedules, customer commitments, and risk mitigation.
- Participate in MRB (Material Review Board) activities, ensuring proper segregation, disposition execution, ERP transactions, and Return-to-Vendor (RTV) coordination.
- Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits by maintaining compliant logistics procedures, training records, and objective evidence.
- Maintain and improve logistics-related SOPs, work instructions, and training aligned to AS9100 and customer contractual requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 6+ years of relevant experience in inventory and logistics roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership position.
- Aerospace, defense, or other regulated manufacturing industry experience strongly preferred.
- Deep understanding of ERP/MRP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle) and inventory management best practices.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, and ITAR regulations.
- Strong analytical skills, lean mindset, and proven ability to drive change and process improvement.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Additional Desired
Qualifications
- Experience managing logistics across multiple facilities or geographical locations
- Lean Six Sigma or APICS (CPIM/CSCP) certification
- Strong background in continuous improvement and change management
- Experience working with aerospace defense contractors or military customers
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Ability to move between office, stockroom, and shop floor throughout the day
- Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 lbs. without assistance
- May require occasional travel between company facilities or supplier locations
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on aerospace manufacturing setting
- Must be able to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment (with certification or training)
- Frequent walking, standing, bending, and reaching in a warehouse and production environment
- Occasional overtime or weekend work may be required
