Logistics Manager

The role of the Logistics Manager is to coordinate, implement and supervise all technical and supply activities of the MSF project according to the standard policies, in order tooptimize the response to the needs of the target population.

Objectives and responsibilities of the position

As a Logistics Manager in a country program, you will be planning all supply activities and:

  • Supervise and plan timely execution of preventative maintenance of all equipment in aproject (vehicles, generators and other equipment used in our energy set-ups, biomedicalequipment, and communication equipment).
  • Supervise and plan first line ICT support
  • Supervise and guarantee quality of construction and rehabilitation projects
  • Coordinate, in close relation with the medical team and the logisticscoordinator, the supply chain processes and systems (order processing, order and stockmanagement, cold chain, procurement systems), keeping accurate and updated informationon stocks (expiry dates, security level, pipeline and lead times)
  • Implementing all administrative related activities linked to logistics (purchase orders, asset insurance,vehicle rental contracts, etc.).
  • Participating in the planning and implementation of the HR processes (recruitment, training, briefing/debriefing, evaluation, detection of potential, development and communication) of the logistics staff in the project / capital in order to ensure both the team size and the amount of knowledge required to correctly perform all logistics activities.
  • In close collaboration with the Project Coordinator, define/update the project security policy, implementing the technical aspects of the risk reduction policy and the technical feasibility of the evacuation plan, in order to ensure people’s security.
  • Participates in monthly reports according to guidelines (Situation Reports, logistical statistics, etc)

Requirements

  • Essential secondary education and technical diploma or technical university degree, preferably as an engineer
  • Essential at least two years of working experience in logistics related activities.
  • Ability to work in an international team
  • Willingness to work in an unstable and insecure environment
  • A good command of English (minimum B1), French is highly preferred at the moment (minimum B2)
  • Computer literacy
  • Availability of at least 9-12 months

Assets

  • Analytical capability and strong skills in the use of spreadsheet software
  • Experience with a similar non-governmental organization abroad
  • A good command of the French and/or Arabic language (minimum B1)
  • Desirable previous experience with MSF or other NGOs and working experience in developing countries.
