The Logistics Crew Lead will be a highly organized and computer proficient individual that will be responsible for effectively supporting the direction of the supervisor or manager to mainatain all processes and direction leading shipping and receiving personnel which includes Loaders, Rotators, Pack-Out Drivers, Dispath operations, receiving included raw drivers and 12 pallet and tub operations. The Logistics Crew Lead will be responsible for efficiently and accurately performing tasks related to the shipping and receiving operations and will assume the role as back to perform tasks need in absens of required staffing needs. The Logistcs Crew Lead primary role is to support the Logistics Management Team. Responsibilities also include enforcement of Logistics SOP’s and ensure Shipping and Receiving are properly organized, damaged product properly disposed of and cleanliness of the Shipping and Receiving warehouse’s are maintained. Responsibilities are not limited to activities mentioned above. This individual will report to the Logistics Supervisor.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and direct floor personnel
- Adheres to all safety policies and procedures
- Models and enforces all Cal/OSHA guidelines and regulations.
- Ensures equipment is in safe operating condition.
- Proper Rotation of product enforced with Forklift Drivers.
- Supports Inventory, Cycle-Counting and any activity related to the accuracy and integrity of our Finished Goods Products.
- Ensures Pallets and Packaging Materials are properly accounted for.
- Maintains clear and open communication with management at all times.
- General warehouse duties as needed.
- Maintain a clean work area, and material handling area such as Forklift Battery Charging areas.
- Must be able to work flexible hours in a cold environment (33 Deg F / 1 Deg C).
- Practice the “honor system” – be forthright and honest under all circumstances.
- Suggest opportunities for improvement.
- Lead and coordinate all activities within the Logistics department, forklift drivers, and other support staff engaged in the rotation, loading and unloading of product, including overflow trailer storage activities.
- Works closely with all operators to ensure warehouse’s organization, cleanliness and order accuracy.
- Coordinate work assignments with supervisor and or manager, monitor employee activity and provide training on job duties, company policies and procedures.
- Observe the loading of trucks to determine conformance to loading patterns to prevent damage to product during transit and that the safe operation of the truck will not be jeopardized.
- Audits loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications.
- Inspects dock doors and locks for defects and reports it to the Logistics Management Team.
- Directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage and work areas.
- Coordinates inconcert with supervisor, the cooling of Tender Leaf Products with 12-Pallet driver to ensure product is not exposed to heat longer that needed.
- Foster an environment where the importance of worker and food safety is based on proper safe handling and loading of product including maintaining cold chain integrity.
- Utilize work method programs (SOP’s, Tailgates) for training and education with employees to improve performance and quality of work.
- Complete necessary paperwork and communication accurately and in a timely manner to ensure an efficient and steady flow of information.
- Ability to work in a partnership with other departments within GreenGate Fresh.
- Prepare and train for next level leadership opportunities (Assistant supervisor/ Supervisor)
QualificationsEDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATION/FORMAL TRAINING:
- Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
- Forklift Certification a plus
- First Aid Certificate/CPR Training (Company will train)
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Related work experience in a manufacturing environment preferably produce in a lead capacity in inventory management, warehouse operations, or shipping/receiving operation. Must have prior knowledge of proper freight handling/loading techniques.
- Directly related experience in the produce industry highly preferred.
ESSENTIAL ABILITIES:
- Above average verbal and written communication skills. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Must have effective organizational, planning and prioritization skills.
- Intermediate to advanced level Microsoft Excel skills required. Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint required.
- Must have ability to use or learn the NAV computer system.
- Must have personal integrity, flexibility, dependability, ability to work within policy guidelines and to work independently.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to growers, customers, clients, sales, upper management and other employees of the organization is essential.
- Must have strong math skills and be able to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus
- Travel to Yuma, AZ & Salinas, CA – Preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged sitting.
- Ability to work in both indoor warehouse environment as well as outdoors regardless of weather.
- Hand dexterity and strength.
- May be required to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Work to be performed in varied environments: indoors in a climate controlled environment, refrigerated cooler production facility, shipping and receiving warehouse, and outdoors is varied weather as needed.
