Data processing, maintaining all agency, criminal history and financial records. Provide reception to the public, attorneys, and courts. Maintain and update both physical and computer files, provide information to various parties; perform individual inmate record checks for various law enforcement agencies and furnish inmate photographs as needed.

Examples of duties

  • Process Weekender/Work Release/Community Service paperwork and maintain statistics.
  • Receive and release individuals to work assignments.
  • Communicate and coordinate with the courts.
  • Take fingerprints and collect fingerprint fees.
  • Process indictment for service, subpoenas, warrants & expunctions;
  • Check for deceased inmates and maintains files.
  • Clean, correct, and file all inmate bookings received
  • Enter DPS and FBI numbers and additional data from rap sheets into computer, and files rap sheets.
  • Assists all criminal justice personnel with any request pertaining to record check information.
  • Complete CR43 forms and send to DPS Austin to report arrest made.
  • Process ID badges for department personnel, Bonding companies, department volunteers, DA’s office.
  • Receive proceeds for copies of background checks.
  • Schedule attorney visits.
  • Print daily financial reports, collect fees from inmate accounts & prepare deposits.
  • Verify check copies and money receipts.
  • Process requests for indigent inmate supplies, inmate grievances and other inmate financial requests.
  • Maintain commissary and phone vendor accounting and reporting.
  • Maintain medical accountings and reporting.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliation for inmate account and monthly financial reports.
  • Process bonds, all bond related paperwork and maintain bond maintenance spreadsheet.
  • Filing & data processing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty. An individual must have the ability to read, write, speak and comprehend the English language. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill(s) and/or abilities required. EDUCATION, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES and/or EXPERIENCE: High SchoolDiploma or GED and must be at least 18 years of age. Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License. Must be able to communicate effectively with others in writing and verbally.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES: Knowledge of principles and procedures of record keeping. Modern office procedures, methods and computer equipment. Ability to work independently with or without supervision. Effectively handle work environment and conditions which involve: working closely with others; irregular working hours, maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for: making observations, reading and writing, operating assigned equipment, communicating with others; ability to maintain mental capacity which allows the capability of: exercising sound judgment and rational thinking under stressful circumstances, evaluating various options and alternatives and choosing appropriate and reasonable course of action, demonstrating intellectual capabilities during training.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Jail environment: potential emergency situations; close work environment; irregular working hours; possible exposure to body fluids, armed and dangerous persons and communicable diseases. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
