About Yara Pilbara Fertilisers

The Yara Pilbara Fertilisers' plant is one of the largest ammonia production sites in the world and we have also taken the ammonia process further downstream with the Yara Pilbara Nitrates Technical Ammonium Nitrate (TAN) plant, a joint venture with Orica. Together with ENGIE, Yara Pilbara will also build a renewable hydrogen plant to produce renewable ammonia.

About the Role

We are currently seeking a Logistics & Materials Handling Technician to join our Ammonium Nitrate operations.

This role is a bit different to a warehouse job - the work is based in an industrial chemical production environment and involves heavy mobile equipment, bulk material handling and strict safety‑critical processes. If you’ve worked in mining, oil & gas, petrochemical or other heavy industrial settings, you’ll feel right at home.

Key Responsibilities

Operational & Equipment Tasks

  • Handle and load Ammonium Nitrate (AN) and Ammonium Nitrate Solution (ANSol) in bagged, bulk and containerised formats
  • Operate ITCs, forklifts, conveyors and other bulk-handling machinery
  • Carry out logistics-area start‑ups and shutdowns
  • Ensure equipment and plant areas are operationally ready

Coordination & Communication

  • Work with external logistics providers to safely and efficiently dispatch trucks
  • Report equipment, process and product-quality issues to the logistics and production teams
  • Participate in daily and weekly pre-start and planning meetings

Safety, Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Follow and help improve procedures and SOPs
  • Assist with investigations and contribute to corrective actions
  • Participate in Yara Productivity System (YPS) activities
  • Provide training and task supervision to other personnel(when experienced)

Admin & System Tasks

  • Complete SAP transactions, purchasing requests, material movement permits and consignment documentation
  • Support monthly KPI tracking for the Production department

About You

Essential

  • Experience in an industrial environment (mining, O&G, petrochemical, manufacturing or similar)
  • Experience with chemical or bulk material handling or mobile plant operation
  • Ability to work safely in a Major Hazard Facility environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication skills
  • Australian/NZ citizenship or permanent residency

Desirable

  • Cert III in Logistics, Business, Process Plant, ESI or RII
  • Dogging or Rigging
  • MHF or Dangerous Goods experience
  • SAP experience
  • Exposure to Lean/Continuous Improvement
