The Customs Analyst is responsible for ensuring compliant, efficient cross-border movement of goods across the regions while driving data-driven insights across Warehousing (WHS) and Logistics operations. This role operates to ensure trade compliance, distribution operations, and supply chain analytics, with shared accountability for performance, cost, and service outcomes.

Job Description

Trade Compliance & Regulatory Control

  • Ensure all imports and exports compliance with U.S., Canada, and Mexico import/export regulations. Analyze shipments data.
  • Classify products using HS codes and manage duty/tariff applicability
  • Oversee preparation and validation of customs documentation (commercial invoices, COO, etc.)
  • Partner with customs brokers and government agencies (e.g., CBP, CBSA)
  • Monitor regulatory changes (USMCA, sanctions, trade controls) and implement required actions
  • Receive and review clearance requests from customs brokers, verifying completeness, accuracy, and consistency of all broker documentation
  • Validate auto-generated clearance instruction forms against broker documentation and Shipment Tracker

Logistics Coordination & Warehousing (WHS) Integration

  • Manage cross-border shipments across regions
  • Coordinate with carriers, freight forwarders, and 3PL providers
  • Resolve clearance delays, holds, and shipment exceptions
  • Optimize routing, lead times, and transportation costs
  • Collaborate with other plants on inbound/outbound flow alignment
  • Ensure customs-cleared goods are accurately received and recorded in WHS
  • Support inventory accuracy, reconciliation, and audit readiness
  • Identify trends, risks, and cost-saving opportunities across NAM logistics network

Systems & Process Optimization

  • Maintain and improve trade compliance and logistics master data in SAP
  • Drive standardization of processes across regions
  • Support digital transformation and automation initiatives
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts (Lean, Six Sigma mindset)

Risk Management & Audit

  • Ensure adherence to internal controls and external regulatory requirements
  • Support audits (internal, customs, etc.)
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to misclassification, valuation, and origin

Qualifications:

Education

  • College degree in supply chain, Logistics, International Trade, or related field

Experience

  • 3+ years in customs compliance, logistics, or supply chain analytics
  • Experience operating in a North America cross-border environment

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of customs regulations (CBP, CBSA, USMCA)
  • Attention to details and analytical mindset with strong data interpretation skills
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and data tools
  • Ability to work cross-functionally across WHS, logistics, and compliance teams
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications such as CCS, CSCP, or Six Sigma
  • Exposure to large-scale manufacturing or energy sectors

Base Salary Range: $65,000.00 – $80,000.00 CAD Annual. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a 5% performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity. Healthcare benefits include medical, dental, and vision.
