The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology is the academic department of the University to support wide range of in-patient and outpatient care services pertinent to general obstetrics and gynaecology including lactation consultancy, family planning and parenting education. In addition to the core services, department also caters to wide range of specialized services of Maternal Fetal Medicine, Gynecologic Oncology, Urogyneoclogy and Pediatrics & Adolescent gynaeoclogy. The department also offers formal post graduate training programs of residency and fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine, Urogynecology and Gynecologic Oncology.

Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Locum Instructor (Gynaecologic Oncology) in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Responsibilities

The Locum Instructor will be responsible for the day-to-day running of outpatient clinics, active participation in operating room sessions, and continuous care of inpatients admitted under the section. The Locum Instructor will also provide on-call coverage for emergencies and urgent patient needs as per the duty roster. This position requires close coordination with the Gynaecologic Oncology faculty to ensure smooth clinical operations, seamless continuity of patient care, and effective functioning of the multidisciplinary care team

Specifically, you will be responsible to:

  • fully integrate into the multidisciplinary model of patient care and function as a leader within the team under the supervision of the attending faculty.

  • attend regular operating theatre sessions and outpatient clinics with the Gynaecologic Oncology faculty.

  • provide inpatient care for Gynaecologic Oncology patients by conducting regular morning and evening ward rounds, including weekend coverage.

  • ensure continuity of patient care by remaining available during assigned hours of responsibility and providing appropriate follow-up.

  • provide in-house emergency cover for the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Unit according to the departmental on-call rota.

Requirements

You should have:

  • MBBS degree, a valid PMDC license, and completed FCPS in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
  • completed structured four-year postgraduate training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from a reputable institution
  • sound knowledge of abdominal and pelvic anatomy
  • knowledge of how to summarize patient histories and manage common gynaecological and obstetric emergencies
  • demonstrated personal integrity, and commitment to ethical principles in the provision of clinical care, including respect for patient autonomy, beneficence, and, as well as ethical conduct in all other aspects of professional practice
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • excellent procedural skills, with the ability to provide high-quality and safe patient care in a diverse setting
  • the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
