Our client is seeking an experienced and motivated Locum Consultant Physician in Geriatric Medicine to join a multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality, patient-centred care for older persons.
The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and ongoing management of older adults across acute and community care settings. The post holder will work collaboratively with consultants, nursing staff, allied health professionals, primary care teams, and hospital management to ensure the highest standards of clinical care and service delivery.

Provide consultant-led care in Geriatric Medicine and General Internal Medicine.
Deliver comprehensive geriatric assessment for older patients with complex medical needs.
Participate in inpatient, outpatient, and multidisciplinary services.
Lead ward rounds, clinical reviews, and discharge planning.
Support frailty pathways, rehabilitation services, falls prevention, and dementia care initiatives.
Supervise and support NCHDs, nursing staff, and allied healthcare professionals.
Participate in clinical governance, quality improvement, audit, and patient safety initiatives.
Contribute to service planning, innovation, and strategic development.
Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure compliance with HSE policies and professional standards.
Participate in the on-call rota as required.
Applicants must possess:
Full registration or eligibility for registration on the Specialist Division of the Medical Council of Ireland in Geriatric Medicine or General Internal Medicine.
Relevant postgraduate qualifications and specialist training in Geriatric Medicine.
Demonstrated experience working at Consultant level or equivalent in acute hospital settings.
Strong clinical, leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
Commitment to multidisciplinary team working and patient-centred care.
Evidence of continuing professional development and clinical audit participation.
Desirable:
Experience in integrated care for older persons.
Interest in frailty, dementia, stroke rehabilitation, or community geriatrics.
Experience in teaching, research, or service development.
