Switchman/Conductor – Mulberry, FL – $21/hr
Road & Rail Services is looking for a dependable Switchman/Conductor who's ready to work hard, stay safe, and build a long-term career. You don't have to be a rail veteran to start - we'll train you on the skills you need. What matters most is that you show up, take safety seriously, and bring a willingness to learn.
A Day in the Life
As a Switchman/Conductor, your shift starts with a safety briefing and a look at the day's switching plan. You'll be out on the track, in all kinds of Florida weather, walking alongside railcars and signaling your crew to get them into position. Some days you'll be climbing up to inspect railcars, throwing switches, or helping align the train for loading and unloading. Other days you'll focus on communicating with the locomotive operator to keep everything moving safely and on schedule.
You'll work a two-step swing shift, which means you'll rotate between day and night shifts - and yes, that includes some weekends. It's not a sit-down job. You'll be walking, bending, and climbing for much of the day. The work is physical, but it's also steady, and there's pride in keeping the operation running without a hitch.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone with a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. If you've worked in construction, farming, manufacturing, or any other tough outdoor job, you'll feel right at home here. Most importantly, you need to be the kind of person who follows safety rules every time - no shortcuts.
Your Future with Road & Rail Services
We believe in promoting from within, and many of our leads and supervisors started as a Switchman/Conductor. We'll give you hands-on training, ongoing safety instruction, and the chance to learn new skills that can take you to the next level. Over time, you could move into crew lead, operations, or even mechanical roles.
In addition to $21/hour starting pay, we offer full benefits - medical, dental, vision, paid vacation, holidays, and a 401(k) with company match. We provide all required PPE at no cost, plus an annual steel-toe boot allowance to keep you safe and comfortable on the job.
If you're ready for a role where you can work hard, stay safe, and grow, apply now to become a Switchman/Conductor with Road & Rail Services.
