• Permeant Full-time Position (80-hour fortnight roster, Monday to Sunday)

• Starting hourly rate between $29.68- $33.91 (Based on qualifications & experience)

We are seeking a Locomotive Service Person to join our Locomotive Servicing team based at our Middleton depot.

This is a practical, hands-on role where you will be responsible for servicing locomotives and completing minor repairs. You’ll play a key role in delivering reliable, high-quality outcomes that meet our safety and performance standards.

Working alongside a skilled and supportive team, you will contribute to KiwiRail’s continued investment in the future of rail.

What you’ll be doing:

• Service locomotives and shunts

• Use tools and machinery to complete mechanical tasks

• Troubleshoot and resolve locomotive issues

• Follow health and safety procedures at all times

• Build your skills through on-the-job training

• Whether you’re just starting out or already experienced, any hands-on experience is useful —we will help you develop your skills on the job

• A trade qualification is a bonus, but not essential — we support both qualified and non-qualified people to build their careers
