Road & Rail Services is hiring a Locomotive Mechanic to perform inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on diesel locomotives and rail equipment. This is a hands-on role working outdoors in a safety-focused, federally regulated environment.

What You'll Do:

Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair locomotive mechanical, electrical, and air systems
Perform preventive maintenance and component replacements
Work on systems including diesel engines, generators, motors, air brakes, compressors, wiring, and lighting
Read and interpret schematics, manuals, and service bulletins
Complete required documentation in compliance with company and FRA regulations
Use diagnostic tools and testing equipment to ensure proper operation
Maintain a clean and safe work environment

Work Environment & Expectations:

Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, noise, dust)
This is a physically demanding role requiring lifting, climbing, bending, and working in confined spaces
Safety is critical: all work must meet Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) standards

Qualifications:
You may be a strong fit if you have:

At least 2 years of mechanical experience, OR
Experience repairing rail equipment or heavy machinery, OR
Completion of a mechanical or technical trade program, OR
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude

Additional Requirements:

Ability to read and follow technical instructions
Ability to meet all pre-employment and ongoing safety requirements

Physical Requirements:

Lift and carry up to 50–60 lbs occasionally
Climb ladders and work at heights up to 16+ feet
Perform repetitive bending, squatting, and twisting
Work in confined or awkward positions when needed
