Locomotive Maintenance Principal

• Lead the performance and reliability of Pacific National's locomotive fleet
• Drive contractor performance, maintenance optimisation, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Permanent full-time opportunity based in Newcastle or Sydney

What You'll Do

Reporting to the Manager Locomotive Contract Maintenance, the Locomotive Maintenance Principal is responsible for the daily asset management of Pacific National's locomotive fleet and the delivery of efficient, safe, and cost-effective maintenance services through the management of maintenance contracts.

Working closely with maintenance providers, engineering teams, and operational stakeholders, you will play a key role in improving locomotive performance, ensuring compliance, managing maintenance expenditure, and driving initiatives that maximise fleet availability and operational outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage locomotive fleet performance, maintenance outcomes, and contractor relationships
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability and availability
• Monitor maintenance expenditure and support operational performance targets
• Lead contract reviews, audits, and compliance activities
• Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and operational teams to deliver business outcomes
• Support long-term fleet maintenance planning and asset management initiatives

What You'll Bring

• Relevant qualifications/experience in Engineering, Asset Management or a related discipline
• Minimum 5 years' experience in asset maintenance, rail, transport, or heavy industry
• Experience managing maintenance contracts and service providers
• Strong stakeholder management, negotiation, and communication skills
• Analytical mindset with a focus on problem-solving and continuous improvement
• Knowledge of rail operations and maintenance environments will be highly regarded
