Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role
As a Locality Officer, you are Council’s ambassador in the
community—working across the district to connect people, places, and services.
This is a varied, field-based role where no two days are the same. You’ll
engage directly with residents, community groups, and internal teams to support
service delivery, share information, and respond to local issues. From
inspections and monitoring activities through to supporting education campaigns
and gathering community insights, you play a key role in enabling positive
outcomes for Waitaki. You’ll balance operational delivery with relationship
building, using your local knowledge and judgement to prioritise work and
respond to emerging needs, while ensuring Council processes, safety, and
regulatory requirements are upheld.

·Strong communication skills and the ability to
build relationships with a wide range of people.
·The ability to work independently, manage
priorities, and make good decisions in the field.
·Experience gathering information, resolving
issues, and delivering practical outcomes.
·Resilience, flexibility, and a focus on
delivering a positive customer experience.
·A full driver’s licence and a proactive,
solutions-focused mindset.

Utu ā-tau | Salary
The salary for this position will commence between $67,492 and $79,403 dependent on
skills and experience relevant to the role.
