Position Summary
The Local Route Delivery Driver is responsible for executing Palmetto Moon's optimized local replenishment routes by safely transporting merchandise from the Distribution Center to assigned retail stores.  This role is a critical operator in the Local Route Optimization model and is accountable for on-time delivery, load accuracy, store handoff compliance, and adherence to standardized routing and receiving procedures.
Drivers operate within pre-defined routes, schedule, and delivery windows supported by WMS-generated load documentation and routing logic.  This position requires strong attention to detail, professional store interaction, and strict adherence to safety and process standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Route Execution & Delivery
- Execute assigned daily and weekly delivery routes according to approved routing schedules and delivery cadence.
- Depart and return within designated time windows to support predictable operations.
- Follow WMS-generated route manifests and load sheets without deviation unless authorized.
Load Handling & Accuracy
- Verify loads prior to departure against WMS load sheets.
- Ensure all cartons, totes and pallets are properly secured and protected during transit.
- Deliver merchandise to the correct store, location, and receiving area as defined by store procedures.
- Obtain required delivery confirmations (signature, scan, or system acknowledgement).
Store Receiving Coordination
- Follow standardized store receiving and handoff procedures.
- Communicate professionally with store leadership during delivery.
- Escalate delivery exceptions, shortages, damages, or delays according to protocol.
- Support pilot feedback by reporting route, timing, or receiving challenges.
Safety & Compliance
- Operate company vehicles safely and in compliance with DOT and company safety policies.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance issues promptly.
- Follow all safety procedures related to loading, unloading, and material handling.
- Maintain clean driving record and required certifications.
Documentation & Communication
- Accurately complete all delivery documentation, digital scans, and logs.
- Communicate delays, incidents, or exceptions to warehouse leadership in real time
- Participate in training, refreshers, and pilot reviews as required.

QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Minimum of 10 years of driving or delivery experience preferred
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
- Ability to safely operate delivery vehicles such as vans, box trucks, or small commercial vehicles
- Familiarity with local roads, routes, and navigation tools (GPS or route apps)
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to [20-40] pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
- Strong time-management skills with the ability to meet delivery schedules and deadlines
- Basic math skills and ability to accurately complete delivery documentation
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Previous experience in route delivery, warehouse or logistics environments
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Must be reliable, punctual, and safety-focused
- Ability to pass a background check, motor vehicle record (MVR) check, and pre-employment drug screening (where applicable)
- Must be at least 21 years of age
