Waste Connections is seeking a reliable and hardworking Local CDL Driver to join our team in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient collection and transportation of waste to designated disposal sites. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, customer service, and environmental responsibility.
Pay $24.50 per hour
Days Monday – Friday with a rotating Saturday schedule
Hours Start time 4 am. Working 45-55 hour per week
Key Responsibilities
Waste Collection and Transportation
Operate trash trucks to collect garbage, recycling, and yard waste on assigned routes.
Ensure the safe and efficient loading of waste materials using appropriate techniques and equipment.
Transport collected waste to designated disposal facilities.
Vehicle Operation and Maintenance
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck, ensuring it is in good working condition.
Report any mechanical issues or maintenance needs to the fleet maintenance team promptly.
Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of the vehicle to ensure compliance with safety standards.
Safety and Compliance
Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies while operating the vehicle and handling waste materials.
Comply with local, state, and federal regulations related to waste management and transportation.
Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and provided.
Customer Service
Interact courteously with customers and the public, addressing any questions or concerns professionally.
Ensure waste collection services meet customer expectations and resolve issues promptly.
Record Keeping
Maintain accurate records of daily routes, waste collected, and any incidents or issues encountered.
Complete and submit required documentation in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
Qualifications
Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record.
Two years of consistent driving history
Able to operate a manual transmission
Strong knowledge of local streets and routes.
Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety.
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and loading heavy items, with the ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb into the truck multiple times a day.
Comfortable working in various weather conditions
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Basic mechanical knowledge for vehicle inspections and minor maintenance tasks.
