Job Description

Since 1972, Covenant House has served and advocated for youth and young families experiencing homelessness, human trafficking, and exploitation. Our overarching goal is to end homelessness among youth and young families by helping them achieve housing stability, heal from trauma, tap into their innate resilience, and hone their interests and skills to forge new pathways to independence. This work is carried out across Covenant House sites in 34 cities in the US, Canada, Mexico, Guatemala, and Honduras.

About the Role

The Lobby Attendant & Facilities Support plays a dual role in creating a welcoming, well-maintained environment for all who enter our space. This position combines front desk hospitality with hands-on responsibility for the cleanliness, organization, and daily upkeep of common areas.

In this role, you will serve as the first point of contact for visitors, residents, and staff while also taking ownership of end-of-day cleaning and facilities tasks. Your presence helps ensure that our space is both inviting and operationally ready each day. You will report directly to the Office & Facilities Manager and contribute to a safe, respectful, and well-functioning environment.

The annual salary range for this position is $36,400, which equates to $20 per hour. Please note that our standard workweek is 35 hours.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain a visible and welcoming presence in the lobby greeting all visitors, residents, and staff in a professional and courteous manner

  • Guide and direct visitors to their appropriate destinations

  • Receive, sign for, and manage all incoming packages and deliveries; notify recipients promptly and maintain organized storage until pickup

  • Perform end-of-day cleaning and upkeep, including second-floor maintenance: garbage removal and placement outside, recycling, packing box breakdown, bathroom cleaning, and kitchen upkeep

  • Conduct an end-of-day walkthrough to ensure all common areas are clean, organized, and ready for the next business day

  • Provide backup support for basic office operations as needed, including relaying messages and assisting staff during busy periods

  • Exercise good judgment in escalating issues or requests to appropriate personnel

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Warm, professional, and approachable interpersonal style with a strong customer-service orientation

  • Reliable and punctual with a strong sense of personal responsibility and follow-through

  • Ability to remain organized and composed in a high-traffic lobby environment

  • Comfort with physical facilities tasks including cleaning, waste handling, and light lifting

  • Basic organizational skills for managing and logging packages and deliveries

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with visitors, staff, and vendors

  • Attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures consistently

Required Qualifications

  • 1 year of experience in a customer-facing role such as doorman, concierge, front desk, hospitality, security, or building services

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Experience working in an office building, residential building, or mixed-use property

  • Familiarity with standard cleaning products, protocols, and best practices

  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft 365 (e.g., Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and SharePoint)

  • Experience with basic package logging, inventory tracking, or mailroom operations
