Job Description

Makes loans, promotes and cross sells loans and deposit services based on member needs. Makes loan decisions and identifies sales opportunities and services for loan interviewers and assists with training loan interviewers. Centralized lender in the Loan Service Center is tasked with answering branch calls from multiple branch MSR’s. The function of the Loan Officers in the centralized lending process is to promote and identify sales opportunities that assist the branch MSR’s with their cross selling efforts and to approve/deny requests for credit. Decisions all indirect lending loans. Responsible for meeting organizational sales goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Meets assigned sales goals including loans, mortgages, credit life and disability, GAP and MRC.
  • Provides general credit union information by telephone, Email, web or in person to members inquiring
  • Interviews, takes applications, approves or denies applications, and disburses the full range of credit union loans (except real estate), reviews and either approves or denies credit card applications, including increases.
  • Provides financial counseling for members in applicable situations.
  • Maintain Loan decisions within acceptable delinquency and charge off tolerances.
  • Assists members with loan and real estate information, NADA book values, and completion of loan applications. Pulls credit reports for loans, credit cards and overdraft requests. Processes loan requests within authority limits, following credit union policies and procedures for loan granting.
  • Sells and cross sells credit union services according to the member's financial needs. Assists members with problems and questions.
  • Informs members of Loan Decisions and lending options.
  • Interviews, takes applications for the full range of real estate loans. Maintains MLO designation (mortgage loan officer).
  • Within their individual loan authority limit, primarily over the phone, approve/deny loan applications originated by point of sale branch personnel.
  • Responsible for quality control. Reviews completed loan packets received from point of sale personnel for proper documentation, return incomplete packets and follow for completeness.
  • Assists in training and cross training of other employees, including but not limited to, loan policies, procedures, regulations, decisioning and sales and service.
  • Decisions new and used Indirect auto loans in DILLS System with approved participating auto dealerships.
  • Back up funding processor for Indirect Loans approved by other Loan Officers
  • Demonstrates ability to effectively use Core Sales Training skills and action steps to achieve sales goals and make follow up and referral calls
  • Assists other branches as needed in questions, approving or denying loans and general Credit Union questions
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
