This position is responsible to safely operate and maintain loader to feed conveyors, hoppers or load trucks. This position will travel up to a 150-mile radius of Sioux City, IA and will have overnight stays.

The typical schedule is Monday - Friday 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM. Hours may vary based on weather and customer demand.

DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES (summary of components that make up the job)

  1. Perform daily equipment, walk around and site inspections to identify and correct any unsafe conditions and keep equipment properly maintained.
  2. Safely and properly perform maintenance (lubricating, fueling and cleaning) on loader. Maintain 3 points of contact at all times while performing maintenance activities.
  3. Safely and properly operate loader. Make sure bucket/attachments are lowered to ground whenever leaving the equipment.
  4. Load trucks with driver in sight to communicate and ensure safe loading procedure.
  5. Load trucks up to legal hauling weight limit
  6. Identify appropriate material to produce quality aggregate material per job specifications. Communicate with other personnel and make required adjustments to material blends.
  7. Maintain smooth, level haul roads.
  8. Maintain contaminate free aggregate piles.
  9. Inspect material - check gradation quality, oversize rocks, contaminants.
  10. Keep pit floor smooth.
  11. May keep asphalt plant fed for maximum prod
  12. Check for spillage on plant floor and clean up daily (assist with shoveling spillage).
  13. May maintain the left over asphalt that is dumped out at the plant.
  14. Help maintain asphalt plant as needed.
  15. Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) and work with people under high stress situations. Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations and act courteous/respectful of others.
  16. Troubleshoot and problem solve situations/problems (material quality, equipment operation/repair, etc.). Monitor and discuss production problems with co-workers and managers/supervisors.
  17. Ensure OSHA, MSHA, EPA, DNR, lock out/tag out, safety and environmental regulation compliance.
  18. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (minimum educational, experience, or other relevant job requirements)

  1. Equipment operation and maintenance.
  2. Drivers license, preferred.
