Mō te tūranga | About the role

We have an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to join us as a Loader Operator in Ashburton and be part of a team doing Good Work that keeps communities moving.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll operate a loader alongside a portable crushing plant to deliver safe, high-quality work for our customers across Ashburton and the wider Canterbury area. You’ll be working with modern plant and equipment, including a new Volvo L180K loader, giving you the chance to do good work with gear that is built to perform. It’s a role with real responsibility, plenty of variety, and a team that backs each other to get the job done right.

Ngā kawenga matua | Key responsibilities

  • Operate loaders and other machinery to load the crusher plant, manage stockpiling, and occasionally load trucks.
  • Carry out daily machine checks and help monitor and maintain the portable crushing plant.
  • Deliver safe, high-quality work on time and to a high standard.
  • Build positive working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Support the team across Ashburton and surrounding areas as required.

  • A full Class 2 licence with WTR endorsements.
  • Previous experience operating heavy machinery, such as loaders.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and confidence working with modern plant.
  • Flexibility to work away from home when required.
  • Experience in the mining or quarrying industry would be advantageous.
  • A proactive approach to health and safety, because when it counts, we switch on.
  • A positive attitude, strong communication skills, and the ability to work well as part of a team or independently.
