Human Support Group – South Tyneside
Unit 2.16, One Trinity Green, Eldon Street, South Shields, NE33 1SA
Make a real difference to people's independence
Do you have experience in care, occupational therapy, rehabilitation, moving and handling or supporting people to live independently?
Are you someone who enjoys finding practical solutions to challenges and wants to make a genuine difference to people's lives?
We're looking for a Living Made Easy Assessor to join our South Tyneside team. This is a varied role, working equally between our branch and out in the community, supporting people to remain as independent and safe as possible in their own homes.
This role is funded by the Local Authority but employed by Human Support Group, and you'll work closely with both our Registered Manager and the Local Authority's Single-Handed Care Lead.
What you'll do
You'll work directly with people who are new to our reablement service, helping them identify practical ways to regain or maintain their independence.
Your day could include:
Your training and development
You don't need to be an occupational therapist to succeed in this role.
The successful candidate will complete specialist training with the Local Authority and will be assessed as competent before carrying out equipment assessments and ordering appropriate low-level equipment.
You'll also develop your knowledge of moving and handling, reablement, strengths-based approaches and supporting people to achieve greater independence.
What you'll bring
We're looking for someone who is:
Experience of occupational therapy, moving and handling, reablement, care assessment, rehabilitation or equipment provision would be particularly valuable.
A different approach to care
Our approach puts the person at the centre of their own care and support. Rather than simply asking "What care does this person need?", we want to understand:
"What could help this person do more for themselves?"
You'll use active listening, observation, and a strength-based approach to understand people's goals, identify barriers to independence, and find practical solutions.
That might be as simple as the right piece of equipment, a change in how something is done, additional support from another service or helping someone regain confidence in their own abilities.
Who we are
At Human Support Group, our aim is to provide high-quality care and support that helps people live the lives they want to lead.
Working in partnership with the Local Authority, our teams support people to maintain and develop their independence, prevent or reduce future care needs and stay connected to their communities.
Ready to make a difference?
If you're looking for a role where your knowledge, judgement, and practical problem-solving skills can have a direct impact on people's lives, we'd love to hear from you.
Apply today and help people live more independently, one solution at a time.
