What you will do:

Reporting to the Agriculture Division Manager, the Livestock Specialist is responsible for managing the products and service portfolios relevant to animal production. By understanding the business challenges and needs of our livestock producers, you will provide an exceptional level of customer service by demonstrating your problem-solving skills, drawing on both your knowledge and personal experience to provide meaningful solutions for our members. You will be motivated to drive the business forward, and you possess the passion and skills to foster meaningful change and sustainable growth.

This position is required to balance time effectively and consistently between in-store presence and occasional travel in the trade area to deliver expertise, products, and service. We expect that you will actively contribute to the rural communities to which we belong. We are looking for a leader that understands the needs of the agricultural livestock producer and who will support our members by putting people first in the delivery of value and excellence.

• Be the company expert in products and services pertaining to animal agriculture
• Provide knowledgeable opinions and recommendations to livestock producers
• Assist with the development and implementation of local sales and marketing initiatives
• Support our team with expertise, training, and professional representation
• Lead a sales support team by example - providing the tools and support needed to deliver outstanding value and excellence to our members.
• Focus on enhancing animal health through product education, consultative services, and proper positioning of animal feed and feed supplements
• Facilitate customized nutrition programs based on sample testing and customer productivity objectives
• Contribute to the business strategy by demonstrating a working knowledge of the challenges and opportunities regarding animal livestock production
• Ensure customer satisfaction by the delivery of consistent and reputable products, services, and information on behalf of the organization
• Active involvement in and support for the communities we serve

Qualifications:

• Education: Degree or Diploma in Animal Science
• Proven experience in animal nutrition products, applications, and sales
• Excellent research and presentation skills
• Familiarity with use of ration-balancing programs such as CowBytes, Dalex, Brill or other similar programs
• Experience in ag retail is considered an asset.
• Possess a passion for livestock production and a commitment to continued skill and knowledge development
• Familiar with feed quality determination (feed testing and analysis interpretation)
• Experience and knowledge of intensive livestock operations, both monogastric and ruminant
• Ability to travel to and meet with livestock producers
• Provide operational analysis and identify areas for management practice improvements
• Travel and manage schedule independently, communicate in a timely manner to customers.
