We are looking for a friendly, compassionate and proactive Live-In Care Professional to support a lovely client living in the KT22 area on a self-employed basis.

Our client is living with dementia and experiences significant memory difficulties. She is looking for someone who will become a reassuring and positive presence in her daily life – someone who is calm, patient, kind and genuinely enjoys spending time with others.

This role is about much more than providing support. We're looking for someone who can brighten her day, encourage her to stay active, enjoy outings together, and help maintain a fulfilling routine. Whether that's visiting a local café, going for a walk, browsing the shops, attending local activities or simply enjoying a chat, you'll play an important part in helping her continue to enjoy life.

She also has a much-loved cat, so you'll need to be comfortable around pets and happy sharing the home with a feline companion.

We're looking for someone who is naturally warm, encouraging and has a good sense of humour. Someone who understands dementia, communicates with kindness, remains calm and reassuring when needed, and can gently lift someone's spirits on the more difficult days. Just as importantly, we're looking for someone who will fit well within our supportive team and share our values of delivering person-centred support with dignity and compassion.

Responsibilities

  • Providing companionship and meaningful conversation.
  • Supporting daily outings and activities in the local community.
  • Driving to appointments, cafés, shops and places of interest.
  • Providing personal care.
  • Preparing nutritious meals.
  • Light housekeeping.
  • Supporting with shopping and household organisation.
  • Encouraging independence while providing reassurance and emotional support.

If you're someone who brings warmth, positivity and kindness into the lives of others, and you're passionate about helping people continue living well in the home they love, we'd love to hear from you.

About Radfield Home Care (UK)

Founded by Alex Green and Dr. Hannah MacKechnie, Radfield Home Care is a network of award winning and leading home care (domiciliary) businesses providing exceptional care to older people with over 30 years of experience.

Radfield’s purpose is: to help our nation age well by remaining connected to the things that matters most to them.

Radfield started out as a Residential Care Home service in Shrewsbury in 1982 and was a small, friendly family business which was highly regarded in the local community. Hannah and Alex grew up living in the home alongside the residents and therefore have a unique insight into how proper care should be provided and the individual needs of older people.

This ethos and understanding underpins Radfield Home Care’s Caring for our CarersTM pledge and Be There campaign and we strive to bring our clients the same quality of care into their own homes.

Dr Hannah MacKechnie worked at Radfield Residential care home for many years before training as a doctor at Birmingham University. After qualifying she worked in many hospitals across the West Midlands and in Christchurch, New Zealand and on returning to the UK completed her GP training. It was whilst working as a GP that she realised there was a need for a local home care company that put quality at the heart of its business.

Alex Green has also been closely associated with Radfield Residential Home and has a career background in finance having worked for companies such as HSBC and Halifax. In recent years he has been working for several charitable organisations around the country before settling back to Shropshire and becoming involved in the family business. Alex gained his Registered Managers Award qualification in 2008.
