About Radfield Home Care

Radfield Home Care Wakefield & Huddersfield is part of a nationally recognised, multi-award-winning care network. We are proud to be:

  • A Top 20 Home Care Group in the UK (7 years running)

  • Home Care Awards 2024 – Outstanding Franchise (Gold Winner)

  • Rated “Outstanding” in Caring by the CQC

We provide relationship-led, high-quality care that allows people to live independently in their own homes - and we’re looking for individuals who genuinely care.

The Role

We are recruiting for a Live-In Care Professional to support a client within their own home on a long-term basis.

The client is living with Dementia and is partially sighted, which means this role requires a high level of patience, understanding, and attentive, person-centred care.

You will be working closely not only with the client, but also alongside their partner, who is actively involved in their care.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Personal care and daily living support

  • Medication support

  • Meal preparation and light household duties

  • Companionship and emotional support

  • Supporting the client with orientation, reassurance, and safety due to cognitive and visual needs

  • Supporting the client to attend appointments and community activities

This role requires someone who is calm, observant, adaptable, and confident supporting clients with complex needs, while building a trusting relationship within the home.

Working Pattern & Flexibility

  • 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off rota

  • You will reside in the client’s home during your working period

Carers are typically entitled to a 2-hour daily break. However, due to the nature of the client’s needs, this role requires flexibility:

  • Some days may require increased support with shorter breaks

  • Other days will offer extended rest periods to balance this

We ensure carers receive appropriate rest overall, but the day-to-day structure may vary, so flexibility and understanding are essential.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for individuals who are:

  • Reliable, committed, and able to work independently

  • Compassionate and genuinely motivated to support others

  • Calm, patient, and confident supporting clients living with dementia

  • Respectful, open-minded, and comfortable working in a shared home environment

  • Adaptable and able to manage changing routines

  • Emotionally resilient and professional

Additional requirements:

  • Experience supporting clients living with Dementia (essential)

  • Experience supporting individuals who are visually impaired (desirable)

  • Driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential)

  • Right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available)

  • Non-smoker

Pay & Benefits

  • £927 per week (live-in rate)

  • £50 per week food allowance

  • Paid, stable rota (2 weeks on / 2 weeks off)

  • Ongoing support from a dedicated office team

  • Training and development opportunities

  • Supportive, professional working environment

Our Recruitment Process

Due to the nature of this placement, our recruitment process is more personalised:

  • Initial interview with our office team

  • Second-stage interview with the client’s partner

The final decision will involve the client’s partner, as it is important the successful candidate is the right fit for the household.

Why Join Us

At Radfield, we don’t just care for our clients - we care for our team.

You’ll be part of a supportive, professional environment where your work is valued, recognised, and makes a genuine difference every day.

Radfield Home Care (UK)

About Radfield Home Care (UK)

Founded by Alex Green and Dr. Hannah MacKechnie, Radfield Home Care is a network of award winning and leading home care (domiciliary) businesses providing exceptional care to older people with over 30 years of experience.

Radfield’s purpose is: to help our nation age well by remaining connected to the things that matters most to them.

Radfield started out as a Residential Care Home service in Shrewsbury in 1982 and was a small, friendly family business which was highly regarded in the local community. Hannah and Alex grew up living in the home alongside the residents and therefore have a unique insight into how proper care should be provided and the individual needs of older people.

This ethos and understanding underpins Radfield Home Care’s Caring for our CarersTM pledge and Be There campaign and we strive to bring our clients the same quality of care into their own homes.

Dr Hannah MacKechnie worked at Radfield Residential care home for many years before training as a doctor at Birmingham University. After qualifying she worked in many hospitals across the West Midlands and in Christchurch, New Zealand and on returning to the UK completed her GP training. It was whilst working as a GP that she realised there was a need for a local home care company that put quality at the heart of its business.

Alex Green has also been closely associated with Radfield Residential Home and has a career background in finance having worked for companies such as HSBC and Halifax. In recent years he has been working for several charitable organisations around the country before settling back to Shropshire and becoming involved in the family business. Alex gained his Registered Managers Award qualification in 2008.
