Job Description
Mission
Over the last few months TryHackMe has been experimenting with a new learning format called “live classes”, which are one-day workshops led by instructors that are the best in the world in their field. This is complimentary to our self study learning used by 9M people and thousands of businesses (ranging from fortune 500 companies to governments). The experiment was successful, and we’re now looking for someone to completely own live classes - running it end to end, and as it becomes more successful, turning it from a scrappy test to a 9-figure juggernaut.
This role will require you to own the entire live training programme end to end: topic selection, instructor hunting, onboarding, instructor success, class delivery, and commercial growth. Your job is to scale this new programme into a flagship line with a quality bar that rivals the best live training in the industry: more classes, more instructors, more revenue, seven-star experiences.
The work starts with topics, not people: identify what we should teach live, get it signed off with leadership, then relentlessly hunt the best person in the world to teach it. From day one you take over work currently done personally by a founder and senior leadership: instructor outreach, assessment coordination, commercial conversations, quality reviews, and topic shaping.
The role
- Works with: the founders (standing weekly growth session), content engineering, product, marketing, sales
- Grows into: running the live training function as it scales. Instructor acquisition, onboarding, and instructor success eventually become a team you build and lead.
What you'll own
Topics (what we teach live)
- Drive the live class topic pipeline: identify topics that will resonate with our audience, validate demand, and bring shortlists to content engineering leadership for sign-off.
- Map topics to the platform: how each class ladders into TryHackMe's paths and certifications.
Instructor hunting (sourcing and outreach)
- Hunt relentlessly: for every signed-off topic, find the best person available to teach it. Proactive outreach, applications, screening, teaching samples, commercial negotiation. No candidate goes cold or gets missed.
- Target next-level instructors: practitioners from globally recognised security companies and proven educators, external and internal.
- Build lasting relationships with senior practitioners.
- Source and manage guest speakers, including fee negotiation within budget.
Instructor onboarding (zero to launch-ready)
- Run every instructor from first assessment call to signed contract to launch-ready: agreements, commercials, Slack access, bios, logistics.
- Drive each class from confirmed instructor to delivered session: topic lock, agenda deadlines, dry runs, tech setup, certificates, post-class wrap-up. Deadlines are yours to hold, including with senior external people.
- Coordinate infrastructure and lab requirements early, flagging feasibility risks before they become launch risks. You are supported by deep internal muscle: content engineering's subject-matter experts back you on class development and technical depth.
Instructor success (quality assurance and continuous improvement)
- Own and raise the quality bar: benchmark against the best live training in the industry and drive ratings up, session over session.
- Operate the instructor quality framework: session reviews, ratings analysis, feedback loops, coaching cadence, re-engagement and termination recommendations.
- Run instructor prep and coaching (dry runs, calibration sessions) with content engineering subject-matter experts.
- Close the loop: what you learn from delivered classes about what makes instructors succeed feeds directly back into who you hunt and how you assess. Hunting and quality are one process, and you own all of it.
- Maintain the ops playbook as the single source of truth for how live training runs.
- Programme growthWho you areWhat success looks like (first 6 months)
- Classes shipped, seats sold, and revenue per class are your numbers, growing quarter over quarter.
- Work with product on the live class experience: class discovery, page real estate, purchase flow.
- Work with marketing on demand generation and with sales on B2C2B: capture corporate interest from class attendees and route it commercially.
- Develop and launch multi-week cohort formats.
- Provide programme status updates: pipeline, confirmed classes, revenue milestones, blockers. Founders receive status without asking for it.
- A hunter. Relentless about finding great people. You build relationships with senior practitioners who don't answer cold messages, and you follow through from first contact to their course going live.
- Interested in or coming from the cybersecurity industry. You can judge whether a topic will land, hold your own with senior practitioners, and speak our audience's language. You don't need to be a hands-on practitioner, but you need the vertical depth to do the day-to-day, which starts with topic and instructor judgment, not logistics.
- An owner. You're accountable for outcomes, not tasks. You see a broken process and fix it without being asked.
- Commercially experienced. You've worked in sales, partnerships, or commercial operations. Negotiating fees and talking to senior practitioners is comfortable ground.
- An operator. You keep many threads moving at once: pipelines, schedules, dry runs, contracts. Trackers and status updates are how you think, not a chore.
- Ambitious. You treat quality and revenue as numbers to grow, not states to maintain.
- Direct. You surface problems early, in plain language, with a proposed fix.
- Bonus points if you’ve been a teacher before!
- A topic-led pipeline is running: signed-off topics with named instructor targets, always at least one quarter ahead.
- The instructor lifecycle runs without founder or senior content engineering intervention: every applicant processed within SLA, teaching samples flowing, outreach targets contacted, dry runs and coaching operating on schedule.
- Classes ship on schedule with agendas locked ahead of promotion deadlines.
- Senior content engineering time is reclaimed for content strategy and instructor calibration rather than funnel and quality logistics.
- The quality framework operates on every class, feedback reaches every instructor, and ratings trend up session over session.
- Classes shipped, seats sold, and revenue all growing quarter over quarter.
- A credible view exists on multi-week cohorts, with format, pricing, and a launch window.
