Job Description

Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP, an Am Law 100 law firm with more than 850 lawyers, is seeking a Senior Litigation Docket Analyst to join our firmwide docketing team in our Phoenix, Denver, or any of our North Carolina offices.

This senior-level role is responsible for advanced litigation docketing functions, multi-jurisdictional rules analysis, and risk mitigation across complex litigation portfolios. The Senior Litigation Docket Analyst assists the Litigation Docket Administrator in daily functions as necessary to ensure procedural compliance, deadline integrity, and operational efficiency across the firm.

The ideal candidate will have an extensive legal background and possess a strong knowledge of court rules and civil procedure. This position reports to the Litigation Docket Manager and may serve as a team lead on departmental initiatives and process improvement projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently analyze complex legal filings to calculate deadlines using jurisdictional court rules and firm docketing procedures subject to review by the Administrator or Docketing Manager.
  • Apply deep expertise in local, state, federal, and appellate court rules, with responsibility for resolving complex docketing scenarios.
  • Investigate and correct discrepancies in filing dates, service issues, and rule calculations to prevent docketing risk.
  • Serve as a first-line escalation resource for attorneys and docket team members regarding procedural rules and deadline interpretation.
  • Mentor and train new and existing docket analysts on rules research, data validation, and risk mitigation practices.
  • Assist with quality control reviews to ensure accuracy and consistency across docket entries and litigation calendars.
  • Identify gaps or inefficiencies in docket workflows and recommend improvements to management.
  • Assist in creation and maintenance of docketing policies, SOPs, and department training materials.
  • Participate in technology initiatives, including docket system upgrades, automation enhancements, and rules database updates.
  • Provide proactive deadline guidance and procedural support to attorneys and legal staff.
  • Generate and customize litigation calendar reports for trial teams and case stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with litigation support, risk management, and practice teams to ensure procedural compliance.
  • Perform advanced docketing using CompuLaw, CourtAlert, or other automated rules-based docketing systems.
  • Utilize PACER, PacerPro, court portals, and other legal research tools for rule verification and case monitoring.
  • Support integration of supplemental tools such as ECF notification systems and court data automation.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal Certificate preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years of litigation docketing experience in a law firm or corporate legal department.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state civil procedure, appellate rules, and local court practices.
  • Experience supporting complex litigation, multi-jurisdiction actions, or high-volume case teams preferred.
  • Prior experience mentoring or training others preferred.
  • Proficiency with CompuLaw (Aderant), CourtAlert, or similar rules-based docketing system required.
  • Familiarity with document management systems (iManage, NetDocuments), Microsoft suite, and PDF management tools.
  • High accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
