Our Global Litigation Team provides key support for TikTok and the family of related products. We empower innovation by delivering integrated legal guidance that supports our business teams in achieving their boldest ambitions. The Global Litigation team is responsible for managing high-stakes litigation and disputes across all regions.
We are seeking an experienced Litigation Counsel to join our Global Litigation team. This Counsel will report to our Head of Litigation, EMEA and AMA and have primary responsibility for leading litigation matters end-to-end, managing active disputes through all stages of litigation with a high degree of independence and judgment.
The ideal candidate is a highly capable, business-minded litigator with strong case management skills, a strategic mindset, sound judgment, and the ability to independently drive matters forward. This person should be comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment, partnering across legal and business functions, and developing a strong understanding of technical issues and product functionality.
Responsibilities
- General litigation support with a primary focus on Europe - handle general litigation, pre-litigation claims, and all related matters for the region
- Manage all aspects of litigation including pre-action correspondence, e-discovery, fact-finding and analysis, witness preparation, drafting, case management conferences, interim applications, and ADR or trial preparation and presentation
- Supervise and partner with outside counsel to ensure that all aspects of the company's legal representation are of the highest quality, including the day-to-day running of matters, overall strategy, written work, and oral advocacy
- Regularly leads and delivers legal work product with little supervision, including advice to clients on complex matters, contracts and investigation/litigation responses
- Work and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and support the company's strategy for litigation and where applicable regulatory matters
- Possesses a deep understanding of the substance and nuances of laws in their subject matter area, skillfully interpreting and applying legal concepts to effectively handle various legal matters
- Independently identifies and evaluates legal risk in business contexts, consults outside counsel and relevant stakeholders where appropriate, and makes well-informed recommendations to clients, including in ambiguous situations
- Takes on a leadership role in addressing complex legal matters, where warranted, exhibiting a high level of autonomy and responsibility
- Considers both business and legal implications of advice with a well-attuned understanding of risk
- Keep the wider regional team appraised of regional developments and mentor more junior members of the litigation team
