Senior Litigation Attorney

The successful candidate will assume responsibility for litigation matters, primarily involving civil and commercial litigation, while managing cases independently from inception through resolution. The firm is seeking a confident litigator with strong courtroom experience who can immediately contribute to an active caseload.

Responsibilities:

• Independently manage litigation matters from initial case assessment through discovery, motion practice, trial, and resolution.
• Serve as first-chair counsel in state and federal court proceedings, including trials, hearings, conferences, oral arguments, and evidentiary presentations.
• Handle a diverse caseload, with a primary focus on estate disputes and commercial litigation, while remaining adaptable to other practice areas.
• Draft and prepare pleadings, motions, memoranda, briefs, and other litigation documents, including dispositive motions and discovery-related filings.
• Conduct and defend depositions, interview witnesses, and oversee discovery strategy and execution.
• Perform comprehensive legal research and analysis involving substantive and procedural matters.
• Develop litigation strategies, evaluate case risks, and provide thoughtful, practical legal advice to clients.
• Maintain direct client relationships, providing regular updates and collaborating on litigation strategy and potential resolutions.
• Work collaboratively with partners, associates, and support staff to deliver high-quality legal representation.
• Participate in appropriate business development and community engagement activities to support the firm's continued growth.

Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school, plus active admission to the New York State Bar.
• Demonstrated litigation experience with the ability to independently manage cases and confidently handle courtroom proceedings.
• Experience in civil litigation preferred, particularly commercial litigation or estate disputes; however, attorneys with substantial prosecutorial, public defense, or other transferable trial experience will be considered.
• Strong experience with depositions, discovery, motion practice, hearings, and trial preparation.
• Exceptional legal research, analytical, written communication, and oral advocacy skills.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment, manage competing priorities, and take full ownership of litigation files.
• Proficiency with legal research and case management technology, as well as virtual platforms used for court appearances and depositions.
• A collaborative, approachable, and professional demeanor, with a genuine commitment to client service and the practice of law.
