
The Denver Waldorf School (DWS) seeks a qualified candidate to join our faculty as a temporary, part-time Literacy Support Specialist for the 2026–2027 school year. This position is anticipated to begin on August 3, 2026, and continue through mid- to late February 2027, although the exact end date may vary based on the school's needs. The Literacy Support Specialist supports students in grades 1–8 through individualized and small-group literacy instruction. This role plays a vital part in helping students access the curriculum while fostering their academic, social, and emotional growth within a Waldorf educational environment.
The Literacy Support Specialist provides literacy intervention using an Orton-Gillingham approach, collaborates with teachers and families, supports student accommodations, conducts literacy assessments, and helps maintain the grade school library. This position works closely with the Student Support Team to ensure students receive the support they need to thrive.

Working Hours
The work schedule requires the Literacy Support Specialist to be on a part-time basis, up to 25 hours a week, during school hours. The specific daily and weekly schedule will be created with the Director of Student Support to accommodate where support is needed, required meetings, and the general requirements for running the Reading Program and related duties. Modifications to the schedule need to be approved by the Director of Student Support.
