General Description of the Role

The Liquid R&D Scientist will support research and development (R&D) initiatives within Aperitifs and other relevant product categories.

Key Responsibilities and Activities

  • Support projects by batching new formulations and/or testing new processes.
  • Support in ingredient qualifications with batching, trials, and testing.
  • Support in renovation projects that may explore alternate formulations, ingredients, suppliers and/or processes.
  • Support plants and/or comanufacturers on product and process optimization.
  • Request and organize necessary technical and regulatory compliance documentation from suppliers.
  • Execute accelerated stability testing and analyze results to predict shelf life and/or stability of products.
  • Manage across multiple systems documentation control of all necessary ingredients, technical information, process directions, and formulations.
  • Define and populate product specifications within a global centralized system.
  • Input liquid bills of material within a global centralized system.
  • Support in first production of products to ensure successful industrialization.
  • Support pilot scale operations from blending, filtration, carbonation, bottling, and general maintenance.

Experience Required

1-2 years of product development and/or laboratory experience is preferred.

Education / Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, or other scientific discipline.

Skills

  • Team working (i.e. ability to work with others across all boundaries to reach common objectives).
  • Good chemistry and mathematical skills are required.
  • Sensory experience of foods and/or beverages is preferred.
  • Good interpersonal, communication and organizational skills are required.
  • Able to work within a lab environment and operate basic laboratory equipment.
  • Data analysis experience is preferred.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Proficient in Italian and English.
