Job Description

Responsibilities:

• Liquid development Scientist supports new product development with Analytical, Liquid formulation, Regulatory, Process engineering & Sensory experience to lead new product initiatives in flavoured spirits, RTDs and other alcoholic beverage products for Asia Pacific region
• This position covers a broad range of challenges like developing new consumer preferred and winning formulations, pioneering new technology and processing routes, and the application of advanced analytical and sensory techniques as well as consumer validation
• This position may also serve as an expert in a specific technical skill or area of expertise and act as an R&D representative in cross-functional teams
• Develop new product formulations, following brief & priorities agreed as per innovation pipeline and timing.
• Feed ideas to the Innovation pipeline by creating innovative concepts and product ideas.
• End-to-end technical delivery of the project including process development and commercialization
• Early technical scoping, input to Business case, and providing all technical inputs to relevant Gate documents at each stage of the project.
• Identify options and deliver on committed cost saving through value engineering and reformulation of existing products for quality improvement.
• Regular interaction with suppliers, flavour houses and external agencies to deliver project within agreed timelines.
• Work with internal and external partners for identification of trends and creating winning products on those trends.
• Partner with technology suppliers, outside research institutes, and universities to deliver new to the world innovation
• Travel to manufacturing plants and supervise production of new/reformulated products as may be necessary.
• Demonstrate ability to work in a global environment and cross functionally with supply chain, production, marketing, and sales
• Maintain precise experimental records, control and issues official formulation, test methods & validation protocols
• Design experiments and carries out scientific work with an awareness of existing and new technology.
• Conduct shelf-life tests and ensure product safety.
• Develop laboratory capability to support future innovations and long-term business strategies
• Ensure regulatory compliance of all ingredients, formulation and label declarations.
• Develop strong, collaborative relationships with regional & global functional colleagues other departments/groups and foster an environment of knowledge sharing
• Manage expenses and budget
• Keep abreast of, explores and develops new technologies and shares information with his team and Manager
• Adapts and implements global process & systems.

Skills:

• Master’s degree in food technology, Chemical engineering, Alcohol Technology or related science
• Basic understanding of Food and beverage regulations
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in new product development
• Hands on knowledge of NPD –Stage gate process
• A practical approach with significant experience of using experimental design, measurement, and interpretation in the development of new products.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to work well with others, and ability to plan and execute work independently with minimal supervision.
• Scientific and technical report preparation
• Keen eye on evolving consumer trends and needs.
• Fluent English
• Team player
• Mobility – willing to travel 20%-30% of time.
• Knowledge and experience the Spirit business (nice to have)
• Proficient working knowledge in applying general good laboratory practices and procedures.
• Demonstrating necessary commitments and knowledge towards safety requirements.
• Possess good knowledge of natural sciences and food sciences.
• Must be self-motivated, autonomous and have ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Must be detailed oriented and have the ability to multi-task
• Excellent organizational and follow up skills
• Strong analytical skills.
• Preferably have been working and/or hands-on knowledge and experience in some or all of the following techniques: GC, GCMS, HPLC, Spectrophotometer, Sensory
