Job Description

Linux Infrastructure Engineer

Based: Leeds

Salary: Competitive

We’re looking for a proactive and solutions‑driven Linux Infrastructure Engineer to help keep our critical systems running smoothly and our colleagues supported. You’ll play a key role in maintaining, developing and optimising our Linux and HPUX environments, ensuring our services are robust, secure and ready to support the business every day.

What’s in it for you?

  • Competitve basic salary

  • Generous discounts: Up to 80% off our beautiful kitchen furniture and products

  • Flexible holidays: Buy up to five extra days

  • Health and wellbeing support: 24/7 virtual GP and employee assistance programme

  • Lifestyle perks: Cycle‑to‑work scheme and discounts with over 200 top brands

  • Refer a friend scheme

  • Be part of a team that values innovation, collaboration and expertise

What you’ll be doing

As an Infrastructure Engineer, you’ll be at the heart of our technology operations, supporting critical systems and helping us evolve our infrastructure. You’ll:

  • Administer and optimise Linux environments (RHEL, SLES, Ubuntu or similar)

  • Deliver OS upgrades, patching cycles, kernel tuning and performance improvements

  • Develop and maintain automation scripts to drive efficiency

  • Support the migration from HPUX to Linux

  • Handle 3rd‑line escalations from the service desk

  • Monitor alerting tools and take action on critical warnings

  • Contribute ideas in team meetings, helping us resolve root causes and improve reliability

  • Identify risks relating to manufacturing, servers or capacity and escalate where needed

  • Lead or participate in regular disaster recovery testing

  • Collaborate across locations — sometimes travelling to support issue resolution

You’ll effectively manage your own workload, balancing tickets and in‑flight projects, and act as a key point of escalation for more complex software or hardware issues.

Who we’re looking for

You’re someone who loves solving technical challenges and thrives in a fast‑moving environment. You’ll bring:

  • Hands‑on experience with Linux (RHEL, SLES or similar)

  • Experience of administering HPUX environments, is preferred but not essential

  • Knowledge of virtualisation technologies such as VMware or Hyper‑V

  • Solid understanding of networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, firewalls)

  • Over five years’ experience in the UK IT landscape

  • Great communication skills, with a friendly and collaborative approach

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise independently

  • Clear and concise documentation skills

  • A calm, adaptable approach in an ever‑changing environment

  • Willingness to travel to other sites when needed

How you’ll succeed

You’ll shine in this role by living our behaviours:

Pro‑active – Taking initiative, sharing ideas and helping drive continuous improvement.
Performance‑focused – Being results‑driven, customer‑minded and supportive of team goals.
People‑centred – Communicating clearly, collaborating with others and contributing to a positive team culture.
Personally accountable – Building trust, staying resilient and investing in your own development.

We’re committed to inclusion

If you require any reasonable adjustments during your application or interview, just let us know, we’re here to support you.
