Linux Engineer

• Location: South West (specific location undisclosed for security reasons)
• Hours: 37.5 hours per week
• Duration: 6-12 months
• Rate: Market rate
• IR35: Inside IR35
• Eligibility: Must be British-born with no dual nationality. Candidates must already hold a high level of security clearance.

We have an urgent contract opportunity for an experienced Linux Engineer with expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). This role requires on-site presence five days a week in the South West of England due to the sensitive nature of the work.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain RHEL systems across various environments.
• Install, configure, and deploy RHEL systems and applications.
• Implement security policies, system hardening, and regular patching.
• Develop automation scripts using tools like Ansible or Shell scripting.
• Provide second- and third-line support for RHEL systems.
• Monitor and optimise system performance and resource utilisation.
• Ensure robust backup and disaster recovery processes.
• Maintain comprehensive system documentation.

Requirements:

• 35 years experience managing RHEL in enterprise environments.
• Strong knowledge of system security, including SELinux and firewalls.
• Familiarity with virtualisation platforms like Hyper-V or VMware.
• Experience working in air-gapped environments with offline repositories is desirable.
• RHCSA or RHCE certification preferred.
