Summary

The Liner Design Technician supports the technical design and manufacturing preparation of cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) liners by translating customer requirements into detailed construction specifications. This role bridges engineering concepts with production execution—ensuring liners are designed accurately, efficiently, and in alignment with quality and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Design & Technical Translation

  • Translate customer purchase orders (POs), specifications, and project requirements into liner construction assemblies
  • Interpret technical inputs including pipe dimensions, pressures, materials, and installation methods
  • Ensure all designs align with internal standards, engineering guidelines, and customer requirements

Construction Sheet Development

  • Create liner construction sheets using standardized Excel-based design templates
  • Validate accuracy of inputs, calculations, and material selections prior to release
  • Maintain consistency and version control across all design documentation

ERP & BOM Management

  • Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) within NetSuite for:
  • Dry liners
  • Wet liners
  • Ensure alignment between design specifications and ERP records
  • Support data accuracy across systems to enable efficient production planning

Document Control & Archiving

  • Manage and store construction sheets within the pipe specification archive
  • Maintain organized records of Customer Project Forms, especially for complex or custom projects
  • Ensure documentation is accessible, traceable, and audit-ready

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Distribute construction sheets to downstream production teams (manufacturing, wet-out, quality)
  • Collaborate with operations, quality, and technical teams to resolve design or production questions
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to design accuracy and efficiency

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist with updates to design templates, standards, and documentation practices
  • Participate in training and onboarding to develop technical expertise in CIPP liner design
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Technical Director

Qualifications:

Required

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ability to work with formulas, data, and structured templates
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to interpret technical information, specifications, and customer requirements
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively across departments

Preferred

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field
  • Relevant technical training, coursework, internship, co-op, or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Exposure to manufacturing, materials, infrastructure, or other technical environments
  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as NetSuite
  • Exposure to CAD, technical drawings, design calculations, or technical documentation

  • Turnaround time from PO receipt to design release

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

  • Primarily office-based with occasional exposure to manufacturing environments
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and work on a computer
  • Occasional plant floor interaction requiring standard PPE

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday but could include shift work, weekends, evenings and/or holidays - flexibility is required as job duties demand.
