Job Description

Performs duties necessary to ensure timely and efficient distribution of linen throughout the hospital. Collects and issues linen and scrubs to specific departments. Maintains par levels and keeps inventory of linen stock and documentation of usage.

Job Responsibility

1.Receives census from Manager to fill carts; fills carts twice daily and ensures carts are properly stocked for following day.
2.Replenishes stock on mobile carts with clean linen according to established par levels and readies them for delivery.
3.Maintain linen carts and linen room in a clean and orderly manner, maintaining compliance with infection control practices.
4.Distributes clean linen to units and respective areas.
5.Delivers all material issued by linen services department in a courteous and timely manner, by carrying bundles of linen up to 30 lbs or using cart to deliver to all areas of the hospital.
6.Takes linen inventory and monitors issuance of linen. Reports to manager on results.
7.Issues supplemental linen supplies when requisitioned by patient care units and ancillary departments.
8.Sorts all linen materials and places on appropriate shelf, bundles weigh up to 30 lbs.
9.Answers phone and follows through on linen requests.
10.Collects all soiled linen and scrub uniforms as assigned by supervisor/ manager.
11.Performs weighing of collected soiled linen, maintains accurate weight records of such, and readies material for vendor pick up.
12.Verifies accuracy of linen material received from vendors, inspects for quality prior to use.
13.Appropriately collects all rejected linen materials as assigned by supervisor/ manager.
14.Puts away departmental inventory, (i.e., diapers, paper scrubs, disposable bed liners, etc.) as assigned by manager/ supervisor.
15.Perform duties as assigned by the manager/ supervisors which contribute to the efficient and effective functioning of Linen Services.
16.Appropriately communicates the need for all necessary uniform room supplies, material, and uniforms to supervisor/ manager.
17.Accurately records quantities of linen material distributed to ensure accurate charges of linen to user department cost centers by means of stock lists.
18.Appropriately issues/distributes lab coats according to established departmental policies and procedures.
19.Performs related duties, as required.

Job Qualification

High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
Minimum one (1) year of relevant linen operations experience, preferred.
Ability to communicate effectively, and knowledge of basic mathematics.
