This position fills exchange carts and basket orders with clean linen items and delivers to hospital and campus locations. The incumbent provides assistance to other linen production areas as needed and visits hospital and off-site facilities using an organization-owned vehicle to determine the types and how much linen is needed on the unit. This position is not responsible for providing patient care.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Fills delivery carts and basket orders with clean linen.
  • Delivers clean linen to various hospital locations and off-site facilities following a predetermined par level.
  • Removes linen items from delivery carts and counts them as they are placed into cupboards or on exchange carts.
  • Records linen delivery times using automated equipment.
  • Inventories, weighs and records linen using automated equipment.
  • Completes paperwork used to bill non-hospital departments' use of linen.
  • Responds to service calls by assembling and delivering orders in a timely manner.
  • Assists in controlling the production schedule board for the laundry production supervisors by determining what specific items are needed.
  • May assist in the production areas by counting, sorting, folding, wrapping, stacking and removing linen from dryers.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.
  • Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills.
  • Knowledge of basic math.

Employee must be able to meet the following requirements with or without an accommodation.

  • This position involves intermediate working conditions in a healthcare setting that may exert up to 50 pounds and may consistently require light work involving lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling or otherwise moving objects which at times weigh in excess of 400 pounds. This position involves considerable standing, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, reaching and moderate lifting and may be exposed to chemical hazards. Incumbents must have the ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer) and the ability to match or detect differences between colors, including shades of color and brightness.
