Primary Purpose

Fills and delivers a variety of linen orders for internal and external customers in a timely, safe and sanitary manner.

Skills or Special Abilities

  • Must be able to read, write, perform basic mathematical calculations and follow instructions.
  • Must be able to demonstrate manual dexterity, accurately count linen and maintain applicable records.
  • Must be able to move heavy linen carts constantly throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a basic working knowledge of applicable laundry equipment.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers and other hospital staff.

Responsibilities

  • Transports and delivers clean linen in a timely and safe manner to designated areas throughout any healthcare facility serviced by Parkland’s Linen Services department.
  • Fills linen carts with clean linen, according to established par levels, for various linen-user areas.
  • Restocks automated scrub apparel dispensers and empties soiled scrub collection units according to established procedures.
  • Operates the cart “tugger” used to tow linen carts throughout the facility.
  • Completes production logs, delivery records, cart-filling logs and other assigned paperwork correctly and legibly.
  • Stays alert to ensure proper equipment use and to identify and report any equipment malfunctions. Operates all laundry equipment in a manner to ensure safety and minimize equipment malfunctions. Maintains a safe and clean work environment.
  • Provides backup to other positions in the Linen Services department, including soiled linen sorting, processing clean linen and order-filling, to ensure continuous workflow and maintain adequate production levels.
  • Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer service satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, assists with implementation and monitoring of results in support of the overall goals of Linen Services and Parkland.
  • Stays abreast of latest developments in the laundry industry by attending meetings and in-service sessions, and integrates knowledge gained into current work practices.
  • Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws and guidelines that impact Linen Services and adheres to internal controls to ensure compliance. Seeks advice and guidance as necessary to ensure proper understanding.

  • Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements, and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the department and Parkland.
  • Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals, actively participating in professional organizations, and/or maintaining certification or licensure. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices.
  • Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws and guidelines that impact the area. Develops effective internal controls designed to promote adherence with applicable laws, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as needed to ensure proper understanding.
