Under the direction of Distribution System Supervisor (DSS) assist and learn to perform work involved with the installation, rearrangement, maintenance, operation, removal, and inspection of electrical transmission and distribution facilities. All job duties apply to overhead and underground equipment and facilities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1) Learn and apply a ll AE P, Ope rating Compa ny, and Site- Specific Sa fe ty rules to per form assigned duties. Participate in sa fe ty tailboa rd, Job Sa fe ty Analysis (J SA), and sa fe ty meetings.
2) Obser ve and learn the assembl y, insta llation, maintenance, rem oval and competently inspect unde rg round facilities, conductors, fixtu res, structu res and other associated equipment on de-ene rgi zed and g rounded overhead and unde rg round facilities under di rect or immediate supervision.
3) Climb poles, towers and ladders and demonst rate evidence of being at ease ab ove g round le vel during the per formance of work tasks under immediate or di rect supervision.
4) Demonst rate the abili ty to competently per form g round person duties under immediate or di rect supervision.
5) Learn and assist with loading, unloading, handling, maintaining, insta lling and rem oving poles, towers and structu res.
6) Assemble and insta ll line material and ha rd wa re under di rect or immediate supervision.
7) Use and sto re hand lines, tie knots and demonst rate a basic working knowledge with ropes and rigging equipment inspection and use.
8) Splice primary and secondary overhead wi res using the p roper tools, ha rd wa re and equipment (including crimping and comp ression tools).
9) Learn to use, inspect and maintain tools and equipment applicable to work duties.
10) Identi fy, inspect, use and maintain a ll classes of rubber gl oves and slee ves(PIPE), and insulating blan kets, hoses and c overs(IPE).
11) Inspect, maintain, o rgani ze, ope rate and stock compa ny vehicles, equipment and tools.
12) Per form house keeping duties as assigned.
13) Report ir regularities and abnormal conditions.
14) P rotect or cont rol work a rea.
15) Set and rem ove barricades, flags, signs, cones and associated equipment.
16) Cor rectly read and reco rd in formation and registe red readings on analog or digital Kilo wa tt-hour meters.
17) Per form similar or less ski lled work as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma or GE D Cur rently en ro lled in a post secondary 2 -year Lineman P rog ram with a Technical School/Co llege and fulfi lled a ll school requi rements and is eligible for internshi p
Maintain passing g rades and a 3.0 G PA with the Technical School/Co llege.

Physical Demand level is Heavy.
Intern must live within a 30 minute distance under normal driving conditions to the applicable Operation Center.
Must have the ability and desire to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to perform the duties and/or responsibilities of the key job (Lineman A) in this family and be qualified through demonstration, examination, and/or performance appraisal as determined by the
Company. Must be able to learn and comply with the rules, safety practices and procedures applicable to the work environment and report unsafe conditions and practices. Must learn and have a working knowledge of Safety and Environmental guidelines. Must effectively communicate with co-workers, supervision, internal, and external customers. Demonstrate professional conduct and effective interactions with employees, contractors and others. Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, nights, and holidays and respond to callouts in both outage and non- outage work to maintain and support business operational needs and schedules. Must be able to read, interpret and work from simple prints and specifications. Must be willing and able to elevated areas and in hot and cold temperatures.
This role requires regular overtime and on-call response. Travel, including out of town travel, may also be required.
