Tarp Installer / Service Technician
Pay: $24.00 per hour
We are seeking a dependable and mechanically inclined Tarp Installer / Service Technician to install, service, and repair tarp systems on commercial trucks and trailers. This is a hands-on position that requires comfort working with tools, mechanical components, electrical and hydraulic systems, and performing physical work in an outdoor or shop environment.
Responsibilities
- Install tarp systems on commercial trucks and trailers.
- Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on existing tarp systems.
- Install and service electric and hydraulic tarp components.
- Measure, cut, drill, bolt, and assemble components during installations.
- Use hand tools, power tools, drills, grinders, and other installation equipment.
- Perform basic welding or fabrication when required.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
- Replace motors, switches, wiring, hydraulic components, arms, tarps, and related hardware.
- Follow installation specifications and work instructions.
- Inspect completed work to ensure proper operation and quality.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Safely operate ladders, lifts, and other equipment as needed.
- Work at heights of approximately 12–14 feet when completing installations or repairs.
- Communicate with supervisors and team members regarding repairs, parts, and job status.
- Perform additional installation and service duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous experience with truck tarp systems, trailer equipment, truck accessories, mechanical installation, fabrication, or similar work preferred.
- Experience with electric or hydraulic systems is strongly preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude and strong troubleshooting skills.
- Experience using hand and power tools.
- Welding or fabrication experience is a plus.
- Ability to read measurements and complete accurate installations.
- Ability to climb ladders and work from lifts.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and perform physical work throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift and move equipment and materials as required.
- Strong attention to safety and quality.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ideal Background
Candidates with previous experience installing or servicing truck tarp systems, dump truck equipment, trailer accessories, hydraulic systems, truck bodies, or similar commercial vehicle equipment are strongly encouraged to apply.
