Job Purpose: Head of Section - LT Jetty is responsible for leading the jetty operations for the Liquid Terminal, ensuring the safe and efficient handling of liquid cargo during pre-berthing, berthing, and post-berthing activities. This role involves overseeing the preparation and maintenance of docklines and associated equipment, coordinating with surveyors for inspections, and managing both import and export cargo operations to uphold safety standards and operational excellence.

Roles and Responsibilities Strategic Roles & Responsibilities

Develop and implement strategy for efficient management of dry cargo back-up yards to support vessel and evacuation operations.

Plan and optimize yard space utilization, cargo stacking and inventory management.

Manage yard infrastructure, equipment and operational assets to ensure smooth cargo movement.

Lead workforce planning, shift management and manpower productivity.

Manage contracts related to yard handling, transportation and operational services. Ensure availability and management of operational materials and equipment used in yard operations.

Ensure adherence to safety, statutory and environmental compliance standards within the yard.

Operational Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise daily backup yard operations including cargo stacking, dispatch and handling activities.
• Monitor and improve cargo turnaround time, yard productivity and evacuation efficiency.
• Coordinate with Dry Cargo operations, rail operations and transport teams for smooth cargo evacuation and receipt.
• Plan and manage yard layout, cargo segregation and material flow to avoid congestion.
• Monitor performance of cargo handling equipment such as loaders, cranes, trucks and conveyors.
• Ensure preventive maintenance coordination with engineering teams to minimize operational disruptions.
• Maintain cargo inventory records and ensure accurate reporting of cargo stock and movement.
• Implement safety procedures to ensure safe handling, stacking and transportation of dry cargo.
• Manage contractors, vendors and workforce working in the yard and ensure compliance with operational guidelines.
• Analyze operational data and identify improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency and productivity.
• Handle operational contingencies and ensure minimal disruption to cargo operations.

• Graduation / Post Graduation in Logistics, Operations Management, Engineering or related field

Experiences

• 10–15 years of experience in port operations, dry cargo handling, logistics or transportation operations.
• Experience in yard operations, cargo planning and manpower management.
• Should have good communication skills.
