Work Hours Monday-Thursday: 6.45 am - 2.45 pm; Friday: 6.45 am - 1.15 pm

Job Status: Existing Vacancy

As a Line Cook at CBN, you will assist the Cafeteria Manager in the preparation and serving of food to our employees at our on-site cafeteria, as well as ensure the food service facilities are always kept safe and sanitary. You will also support the cafeteria in menu planning, catering preparation, inventory and creating daily specials.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare vegetables for salads and lunch specials, prepare meals based on customer defined preferences, blending and serving smoothies and helping in the kitchen as requested;
  • Create varied and nutritious menus for lunches, in-house catering, and special events;
  • Arrange set-up of food items, supplies, serving lines and equipment and ensuring that they are provided in accordance with cafeteria requirements;
  • Clean food preparation and serving areas and maintain safe and sanitary kitchen conditions at all times;
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or other potential safety concerns to the Cafeteria Manager;
  • Perform cash, debit and credit transactions at the cash register throughout the day;
  • Monitor inventory (food, materials) and report low stock levels to the Cafeteria Manager to avoid impact on meal plans; and
  • Various other duties and responsibilities.

Qualifications

Mandatory Requirements

  • Legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Fluent in English (speak, read, write)
  • Able to obtain and maintain Government of Canada Secret (Level II) clearance
  • Able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Able to lift up to 35 lbs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience working in kitchen (back-end) environment
  • Valid Food Handler Certification (or willing to attain it if you do not possess it currently)
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Self-directed
