Job Description

Daily Wire is seeking a Lighting Assistant to support the lighting department during pre-production and on-set production. Working under the guidance of the Lighting Designer and senior lighting staff, this role assists with the setup, operation, and breakdown of lighting equipment to help bring each production’s creative vision to life. This position is ideal for individuals looking to build hands-on experience in professional lighting, power, and production workflows while contributing to safe, efficient, and high-quality productions.

Primary Responsibilities

• Support lighting setup, adjustments, and teardown in accordance with the Lighting Designer’s creative vision
• Prepare and organize lighting equipment, fixtures, tools, and accessories for production
• Collaborate with lighting and grip teams to support daily production operations and on-set needs
• Assist with basic power distribution, cable management, and location preparation under supervision
• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient lighting work area throughout production
• Follow established safety procedures and help ensure safe working conditions on set
• Support production documentation and daily lighting logs as needed
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support lighting and production teams

Experience & Requirements

• 0–2 years of experience in production, lighting, or a related technical field, or equivalent coursework/internships
• Basic understanding of lighting equipment, power, and production workflows
• Strong willingness to learn lighting techniques and industry best practices
• Clear communication skills and ability to take direction from senior crew members
• Dependable, detail-oriented, and safety-conscious on set
• Ability to work collaboratively in fast-paced production environments
• Strong problem-solving skills with adaptability to changing production needs
• Basic proficiency with G Suite or similar productivity tools
