Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Lifting Specialist to join our team!

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise lifting and rigging activities across the project.

  • Review lifting requirements and determine appropriate cranes, lifting equipment, accessories, and rigging arrangements.

  • Prepare and review lifting plans, lift studies, method statements, and risk assessments.

  • Review crane capacities, load charts, lifting radii, boom configurations, ground conditions, and operational limitations.

  • Verify the weight, dimensions, center of gravity, and lifting points of loads prior to lifting.

  • Develop lifting arrangements for heavy, oversized, complex, and critical equipment.

  • Review crane positioning, access routes, setup areas, outriggers, mats, and ground bearing requirements.

  • Verify that cranes and lifting equipment are suitable for the intended lifting operation.

  • Inspect and verify lifting accessories including slings, shackles, spreader beams, lifting beams, hooks, chains, and other rigging equipment.

  • Ensure lifting equipment has valid inspection, certification, and testing documentation.

  • Conduct pre-lift inspections and verify site readiness before lifting operations commence.

  • Supervise critical lifting operations and ensure compliance with approved lifting plans.

  • Coordinate with Crane Operators, Riggers, Banksmen, Signalmen, and Construction teams during lifting activities.

  • Ensure clear communication and agreed signaling arrangements are established during lifting operations.

  • Monitor weather, wind, visibility, ground conditions, and other environmental factors affecting lifting safety.

  • Stop or suspend lifting operations when unsafe conditions or deviations from approved plans are identified.

  • Ensure lifting operations comply with approved Method Statements, Risk Assessments, Permit-to-Work requirements, and project procedures.

  • Review and support lifting-related risk assessments and identify appropriate control measures.

  • Provide technical guidance to construction teams regarding safe lifting and rigging practices.

  • Support the investigation of lifting incidents, near misses, equipment failures, and unsafe conditions.

  • Participate in lifting audits, inspections, toolbox talks, and safety briefings.

  • Monitor compliance of lifting subcontractors with project requirements and approved procedures.

  • Review lifting plans submitted by subcontractors and provide technical comments and recommendations.

  • Maintain records of lifting plans, equipment certificates, inspections, and lifting activities.

  • Coordinate lifting activities with construction sequencing, logistics, access, temporary works, and site operations.

  • Ensure lifting operations do not conflict with adjacent construction activities or critical project interfaces.

  • Provide specialist support during installation of major mechanical, electrical, structural, MEP, and infrastructure equipment.

  • Support emergency planning and recovery arrangements for lifting operations.

  • Promote safe lifting practices and continuous improvement across the project.

Airport / Infrastructure & Airfield Responsibilities

  • Support lifting activities associated with airport terminals, airfield infrastructure, utility plants, roads, structures, and external works.

  • Plan and supervise lifting of major MEP equipment, chillers, AHUs, generators, transformers, pumps, tanks, structural components, steelwork, and other heavy equipment.

  • Provide lifting support for district cooling plant construction and major mechanical equipment installation.

  • Coordinate crane operations in restricted areas, congested construction zones, and operational airport environments.

  • Assess lifting requirements where access, working space, underground utilities, pavement capacity, or operational restrictions create additional constraints.

  • Coordinate lifting activities around existing infrastructure and live operational facilities.

  • Support complex lifts involving tandem cranes, heavy lifts, restricted access, or unusual load configurations.

What Required Skills You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction, or a related technical discipline is preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in lifting, rigging, crane operations, or construction lifting supervision.

  • Proven experience in lifting planning and supervision on major construction, infrastructure, industrial, or airport projects.

  • Strong practical knowledge of cranes, lifting equipment, rigging accessories, and lifting operations.

  • Experience preparing and reviewing lifting plans and critical lift studies.

  • Strong understanding of crane load charts, lifting capacities, radii, boom configurations, and rigging arrangements.

  • Knowledge of applicable lifting and rigging standards and recognized industry practices.

  • Experience working with heavy equipment installation and complex construction lifts is highly desirable.

  • Relevant lifting / rigging certification such as LEEA, CPCS, OPITO, or equivalent is preferred.

  • Strong understanding of construction HSE requirements and safe lifting practices.
