The Lifestyle Companion is a compassionate and resourceful professional dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for individuals living with dementia and their unpaid caregivers (typically family members or loved ones). This role focuses on social engagement, household organization, and lifestyle coordination, creating meaningful, joy-filled experiences that support both the individual living with dementia and their caregiver.
As part of Companioa's integrated service offerings, the Lifestyle Companion works under the Companioa umbrella with the guiding philosophy that: "No one should be on this journey alone."
Managing the effects of dementia can be complex and overwhelming. Our Lifestyle Companion services provide a highly personalized and elevated level of support, ensuring that each client receives care tailored to their unique needs and preferences.
Dyad Model & Intergrated Care Approach:
Operating within a dyad model, the Lifestyle Companion works closely with, and reports to, the Guide (LCSW/MSW) while contributing to the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT).
This is a flexible, community-based role with time spent in clients’ homes, community settings, and administrative planning. The Lifestyle Companion will work both independently and as part of a highly collaborative Dyad team, contributing to the overall well-being of clients and their families.
This amount is not necessarily reflective of actual compensation that may be earned, nor a promise of any specific pay for any specific employee, which is always dependent on actual experience, education and other factors.

In addition to providing home care and case management services, we operate San Francisco's Elder Abuse Prevention Program; The Friendship Line, a free 24-hour suicide prevention "warm" line for seniors; adult day care centers for adults experiencing Alzheimer's and dementia; the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), which provides medical care, physical therapy and enrichment activities for older adults; CONNECT, a free community referral service for all things elder.
Institute on Aging is located in San Francisco and works with clients in San Francisco, Marin, San Mateo, Santa Clara, East Bay, the Peninsula, and San Bernadino/Riverside County.
