Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in physical education, Sports Science, or Swimming (major or specialization preferred).
  • Recognized lifeguard certification and formal swimming training (essential).
  • First Aid and CPR certification (required or willingness to obtain).

Experience and Skills

  • 3–4 years of experience as a Swimming Instructor, Teacher, Coach, or Lifeguard Support role.
  • Proven experience working with primary‑aged students (Grades 1–6).
  • Experience in international schools or English‑medium school settings.
  • Strong technical knowledge of swimming instruction and water safety.
  • Experience supporting swimming competitions, galas, and aquatic activities.
  • Excellent communication, observation, and pool‑management skills.
  • High level of responsibility, alertness, and commitment to student safety.

Job Title: Lifeguard Support / Swimming Support Instructor (Aga Khan Primary School)

AKS Primary School is seeking a responsible, skilled, and enthusiastic Lifeguard Support / Swimming Support Instructor to support the delivery of swimming lessons for Primary students (Grades 1–6). The role combines pool safety supervision with instructional support, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and high‑quality swimming experience for all learners in an international or English‑medium school environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise swimming lessons to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students during pool activities.
  • Support and assist in teaching swimming skills to students from beginner to advanced levels.
  • Provide technical guidance on basic swimming techniques, water confidence, and progression skills.
  • Assist with planning and execution of swimming lessons for Grades 1–6.
  • Support preparation and supervision of swimming galas, competitions, trips, and aquatic school activities.
  • Assist in preparing selected students for swimming competitions and performance events.
  • Monitor and manage student behavior in line with school policies.
  • Conduct safety checks of pool areas and equipment before and during sessions.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow all safeguarding, health, and safety protocols.
  • Work collaboratively with Swimming Instructors, PE staff, and school leadership.
  • Creates learning outcomes and use them to write midyear or end of year reports
