Job Description

Lorain County Metro Parks is seeking responsible individuals with good communication and swimming skills for lifeguard positions. Supervises swimming activities and ensures that policies, guidelines, and safety procedures are followed. Warns swimmers of improper activities or danger and enforces pool regulations and water safety policies.

Administers first aid in the event of injury, rescues swimmers in distress or danger of drowning, and administers CPR and/or artificial respiration, if necessary. Evaluates conditions for safety and initiate an aquatics emergency action plan as required. Inspects facilities, equipment, and water to ensure that they are safe and usable. Assists in cleaning the pool and related facilities and equipment.

RATE OF PAY: Starting at $12 per hour up to $15 per hour, commensurate with the employee's experience.

HOURS: Up to 28 per week.

Requirements

  1. Must have American Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and First Aid Certifications or be willing to obtain certification through Lorain County Metro Parks before the start date.
  2. Lifeguards must be at least 15 years of age.
  3. Candidates must be available to work from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, 7 days a week.
  4. Duties as apparent and assigned.

Must have reliable transportation or a valid Ohio Driver's License. New employees must satisfactorily complete a background check. Lorain County Metropolitan Park District policy prohibits hiring new employees who are tobacco users.
