
Position: Lifeguard I Location/Dept. Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center, Philadelphia PA Availability: Immediate Schedule: Part-time Plus (up to 29 hours per week); Part-time (up to 19 hours per week) - Must be willing and able to work weekends and evenings as will be required in performance of duties or as requested to support the ongoing operations of the Kroc Center. Reporting Relationship: Aquatics Manager (AM), Aquatics Supervisor (AS) Salary Grade $16.00 Status: 73 Non-exempt
The Lifeguard I assures the safe utilization of all aquatic areas by Kroc Center members and guests. The use of superior customer service in providing oversight of these areas is required. Must be able to be flexible in support of the Kroc Center team in all areas of center operation, as needed and assigned. Maintain a safe and positive exercise environment in the center’s water park and competitive swimming areas. Supervise member and guest use of aquatic venues. Demonstrates knowledge and practical application of the center’s safety and emergency procedures. Participates in daily maintenance of the center’s pool areas, exercise equipment related to pool use, and all emergency equipment throughout the center. Able to share knowledge of programs and services offered by all areas of the center, as requested by members and guests. Actively participates in staff meetings and training sessions, as requested. Maintains a positive and professional demeanor during interactions with members, guests, colleagues, and the community. Perform other duties, as assigned, to assure the success of the center.
High school diploma or GED or enrolled in a program designed to result in such achievement required. PA state lifeguard certification required; ability to satisfy periodic swimming requirements. Prior work experience as a lifeguard in PA preferred. Current CPR/AED required. Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills required. Must be able to read, write and communicate in English. Must have ability to work and relate well with people. Proficiency in oral and written communication skills.
Must meet the Child Protection Clearances requirements by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check. As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 prior to employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter.
