Asphalt Green is a leading not-for-profit organization with two premier aquatic facilities in New York City. Our Aquatics Department is essential in helping us inspire a love of sports, fitness, and healthy habits that improve the lives of New Yorkers.

We are seeking responsible and dedicated lifeguards to join our team. In this role, you will ensure the safety of all patrons by actively monitoring the pool, enforcing rules, and responding quickly and effectively to emergencies. Responsibilities

• Maintain constant surveillance of the pool to ensure patron safety.

• Enforce facility rules to prevent accidents and maintain a safe environment.

• Respond quickly and appropriately to emergencies, including water rescues and first aid.

• Administer CPR, AED, and other life-saving techniques as needed.

• Communicate clearly and professionally with patrons, staff, and management.

• Give clear instructions during emergencies and enforce rules respectfully.

• Perform routine inspections of lifeguard equipment and report any issues.

• Assist patrons with questions and provide excellent customer service.

• Work collaboratively with fellow lifeguards and facility staff.

• Attend required staff meetings and training sessions.

Qualifications

• Current lifeguard certification (Red Cross, YMCA, or equivalent).

• Current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification.

• Strong swimming skills and physical endurance.

• Excellent observation and communication skills.

• Ability to stay calm and focused during emergencies.

• Previous lifeguard experience preferred.

• Flexible availability, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.

• Ability and willingness to work at either or both Asphalt Green locations (UES and BPC).

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
